Hello community! I’m a new member! Quick (I hope) question. I was given a pair of Amaz1763 recently by a church member. They were from her late husband who purchased them in Nov 2020. I took them on July 28 2025 to a hearing center that specializes in Beltones. The hearing center technician said the right aid did not “sound right” when she was checking it, and that I would have to send it to the factory to have it repaired for a cost of probably $400+. But since these are old, she suggested new hearing aids instead of investing money into old hearing aids. I told her I could not afford either, so she did an alternative solution: Since my right ear has the worse hearing loss, she changed the R to be the B since the B sounded fine when she checked it. She took out the old wires because she said they were for a “different level of hearing loss in a much larger person”, put new wires in both, and programmed the R one for my left ear, and B one for my right ear. She charged me $350 to do this. Now that I’m on this forum and hearing different discussions, I wanted to ask if what she did is the best solution (besides getting new ones). If, so, any advice on the names/models of any moderate low cost aids (if that’s such a word – because when I first checked the prices were $4K and up). Thanks to anyone who may wish to help this “newbie”! ![]()
