Phonak A I90 speech in loud noise very loud

Hi, the best program for speech is spheric speech in loud noise. But the actual settings are too loud for me and I would like to reduce loudness using the Phonak Target.

  1. Should I start buy simply reducing the ?
  2. Then maybe the G80, which is supposed to amplify the laud noises.
  3. Then maybe G65
    The other programs are OK in general
    The numbers on the G80, G65 and G50 of the other programs are almost the same
    than the ones for the spheric in loud noise but it looks like the second processor
    Amplifies the little sounds the other programs don’t amplify.

What I like about the Phonak Infinios I90 is the noise block. The programs in general
are a little louder for me and I have done dozens of test to reduce loudness but when I do it the price is missed speech, However If I leave the settings how my audiologists set them and when the noise block activates itself it reduces the laudness and uncomfortable environmental noises and maintains speech clarity

And my own voice loudness when I talk, since I have severe to profound hearing loss. But the Noise block doesn’t seem to be in the Spheric speech in loud noise so I want to try to reduce the MPO and maybe the G80…

Since you are using Target, I would go to to the “Automatic Fine Tuning” tab under fittings, select the Spheric in loud noise program on the left of the screen and then adjust the volume in the issues tab by selecting “too loud” and then “Fix It”. I would be cautious and make one small adjustment at at a time.

If you are brand new to you might have your overall gains reduced 10 or 20 % and gradually increase it as you become accustomed to the full prescriptive gains for a proper fitting for your losses.

Going around underfit is no way to live life.

I would be very careful with this. Unnecessarily reducing can be detrimental to understanding in noise because understanding speech in noise is based in part on the ability to hear its peaks, which are amplified by MPO. I recommend running AudiogramDirect with , which are included in the 5.0 fitting algorithm. Then the MPO is calculated based on the UCLs.

UCLs - Uncomfortable Levels, the first level (in the AudiogramDirect module) that you find uncomfortable.
