Using COSTCO for first time

I have been getting my from an audiologist, at great expense. Two of my senior colleagues have purchased theirs from COSTCO and have been quite happy with the service and the HAs with which they were fitted (Wheaton, MD COSTCO), so I am going to join COSTCO today and get my HAs there. Any feedback or advice on which brand of HA to get, on the COSTCO experience, etc., would be greatly appreciated and thank you! FYI - my tinnitus is mild and my hearing loss is moderate. Current HAs are Phonaks from 2019 and are .

You mention . That can mean a couple of things. Most hearing aids sold by Costco are (Receiver in Canal) They’re “BTE” style as they do fit behind the ear but are smaller than most traditional BTE hearing aids which have the receiver in the hearing aid itself and tend to be for more profound hearing losses. Note: “Receiver” is the hearing aid language for what many people call a speaker. (Goes back to landlines when one held the receiver to one’s ear. Good luck. Keep us posted.

I just called my audiologist and asked for a copy of you which I will post. I thought = In BTE hearing aids, the receiver is inside the main body behind the ear, and sound is delivered to the ear canal through a tube connected to an earmold or dome. Mine are connected to a dome.

What is your current phone?
Do use the hands free phone call feature?

The Phillips, similar to Oticon, Rexton, similar to Seimans and Jabra, similar to Resound aids are compatible. The Sennheiser aids are classic Bluetooth similar to your Phonaks.

All these kids are very nice high quality hearing aids. Costco uses best practices to fit aids.

OK, it sounds like you do have with a tube. A little unusual for it to use a dome, but sometimes used for really small ear canals. Costco’s aid that is similar to Phonak is Sennheiser and I’m pretty sure only comes in . I think at least one of their other brands is available in BTE.

Costco does not carry but could be suitable for your needs. They’ll let you know.
All their devices are premium and they may have different features that fit different needs. Their newest tech model is the Jabra 30, Sennheiser is an older model but has the best connectivity (it can connect to anything that has bluetooth and it plays well with Androids). Just write a list of what you want and let them know. They have a 6 month return policy so you won’t be stuck with a brand that you will not like.

Also, when you say with a tube: I recall seeing some older? with what looked like hollow tube connecting the BTE receiver with the ear canal. My BTE receiver connects to the ear via a wire. Model is Phonak Audéo M.

If there’s a wire from your hearing aid to the ear then you have a (Receiver in Canal) There should be a very small rectangular shaped object at the end of the wire that the dome attaches. The Sennheiser hearing aid from Costco would be most similar to your Phonak and should work with your phone the same way your Phonak does.

Your hearing loss is very much in the hearing aid range. Costco should be able to help you out with aids.

“Hands free phone calls” what I am talking about is you don’t have to touch your phone. In fact it can be in a different room when answering, talking or hanging up the call.

Do you know which model Phonak aids you have now?

FYI,
Your Phanak Audeo M aids are pretty much the same as Costco’s KS9 aids of years ago. My wife has a pair and wears them daily. I believe MDB that’s posting to you also wears the KS9 aids.

Perplexity.ai notes this on longevity: Expensive hearing aids typically last between 3 to 7 years, with an average lifespan around 5 years. This lifespan can vary significantly based on several factors, These Phonaks lasted 6, so I guess I can’t complain.

The Phonak Q70’s (312 batteries) I got in 2013 still work, though since I got KS10s around 2021 they’ve had limited use… impressive longevity and points for 312 batteries rather than rechargeable.

Hi, welcome to the forum. I have the Jabra Enhanced Pro 30 hearing aids. They are Identical to the ReSound Viva highest level, just rebranded for Costco. They are , (Made For iPhone) software. Apple has been working with the hearing aid manufacturers for over ten years and they work great with the iPhone. I have an iPhone 13 and have had no issues. The Jabra Pro app, which you can download from the App Store is compatible.

Someone implied/noted that the -type would seem to be fine for someone with my . As one’s hearing deteriorates, what type of HA does one move/migrate to???

Most people are fine staying with . If one’s hearing deteriorates beyond what a RIC can handle, Ultra Power or Cochlear implants may be possibilities.
