Which Level of Phonak Audeo compare to Signia Pure C&G 5IX

I’m fortunate to have an insurance that provides new “low-level” every 3 years or upgrade for $500. co-pay, through HearUSA. No other provider. Examples: They will provide Signia Pure C&G 3IX with no co-pay or 5IX for $500. Three years ago I was able to get Phonak Lumity 7 for the $500. co-pay, and I have been very satisfied with them. I was looking forward to getting a new pair, but now they are wanting $5,000. co-pay for a pair of Phonak Audeo Sphere 90. I haven’t asked what the co-pay would be on lesser levels of Phonak now. SO… Back to my subject line: What level of Phonak Audeo would be at the level of the Signia Pure C&G 5IX? And any other comments/suggestions much appreciated.

From what I could find online, the Signia 5 IX is equal to the Phonak Lumity 70. $5000 is basically the cost of a pair of Phonak Audeo Infinio 90 Sphere outright.

Thank you. Yes, that is what is so frustrating about dealing with them. They claim the Phonak sphere aids are $10k without insurance! I may just stick with my current Lumity aids till the next round of improvements.

Check out ZipHearing for the cost of hearing aids from a local audiologist. $10,000 should get you two pair of premium aids with fittings and a year of service, 3 year warranty etc.

Thanks, but I’m not looking to spend $10k OR even $5k! I’m hoping to get something new and better than my Phonak Lumity 70 for my $500 co-pay. The Signia look good, but their limited streaming compared to Phonak’s 2 devices at a time isn’t a positive. If I hear that their sound quality is definitely an improvement I would take a serious look at them.

the C&G 5IX equivalent is the Phonak Infinio i70 (Non-Sphere) - They are both the 2nd highest tech level in their lineup.

This i70 is too similar to the Lumity 70 (just an incremental update) - It’s not worth doing this upgrade IMO.

I am not sure the C&G 5IX can be considered a significant upgrade from the Lumity 70 either.

Ask for the Phonak Sphere 70 pricing – hopefully its just $550.

The Lumity also comes in a 90 version, I read, that has a higher tier of performance over the 70. That way you’d have a backup pair. Might be worth considering.

No kidding! To those who suggested checking out the Phonak 70 sphere: The problem there is apparently they have stopped offering Phonak at the comparable discount/co-pay compared to Signia and their other “favored” brands. They just offered me this as a choice:
Widex Advance Tech 330 Level : Quiet, Music, Quiet w/speech, Party, Party w/speech, Transport, Urban /your copay $599
Widex 220 Standard Tech Level: Quiet, Music, Party, Transport / your copay $0

Obviously no one can possibly tell which is gonna be the “better” one for you, you’ll need to trial them to see for yourself, some people get by quite well with lower feature models like Widex 220 entry level, still if you can cover the $1600 for premium models from Costco would be a better idea.

My first pair of were from Costco, under their Kirkland brand which they seem to not offer anymore. They currently offer 4: The first 3 are $1600, last is $1700. all with chargers)

I do understand that it’s a personal choice, and each person may prefer one over another. But still, I believe that those “in the know” can discern and inform general quality/features level to my present Phonak Lumity 70 and/or the choices offered by my insurance at HearUSA. That’s the kind of info I’m here for. Thanks everyone.

I have the SmartRiC 440s and I love them! (I’ve written about this in other threads). If you have questions about them, I’ll be happy to help (If I can).

Now, is it worth spending $599 to upgrade from the Lumity 70 to the SmartRIC 330? I think (feature-wise) these two are competitive (I like Widex’s sound better but the Phonak’s is significantly better – sound preference is very personal).

Well no not really, I mean the features are quite different between the brands, although they state certain features are similar Only You could possibly know after a trial which “features” work better for you, so not about the brand but all about what the model version can offer you, take the marketing department blurb with a pinch of salt please, now the data sheet and features and available channels etc are easily available online, do your own research to determine which you’d like to try, one other thing, the software is the best place to find all the information you’d ever want to know about the models you would like to try, I always recommend premium over the defeated models if possible, good luck.
