Hello folks - this string is long and I apologize if my answer is buried in here. If anybody could please tell me this I’d be very grateful: what is a hearing aid that optimizes for sound quality, not connectivity, where there’s no distortion and the Bluetooth can be turned off in a way that adjacent devices won’t summon it and pair? I really want manual control, not automated functions that surprise and distract me. Thank you in advance.

Your question doesn’t relate to this topic. I suspect you would get a better answer asking it as a new question.

I have had my Sennheiser for a year. The left one keeps going mute. Just had them readjusted and they lasted 2 days. Not a happy camper right now. Another 140 mile trip to try some other settings. The App sucks big time. Called Sennheiser and they kept saying the app on iPhone is having trouble. I have Android.

Did you get these at costco? I’ve had mine for 4 months, no problems with mute. I like these, and the app i good too. I use my iPhone SE 3.

Wearing for about 6 weeks now. Really love the clarity! I really haven’t noticed the automatic switching in main program of Automatic Premium. According to spec sheet found at hearingaides.sennheiser-hearing.com7, there are 9 Automatic modes available. Echo, Car, loud noise, music, comfort, noise, quiet, streamed speech, streamed music. So if I’m home just listening to music, why don’t they auto switch?

Are there any tinnitus-related features built into the Sonite R or the companion app? Will be fitted with mine next week and eager to hit the ground running once Costco nails down all the basics.
Also, yay, this is my first forum post. As a tech nerd, expect more from me later. ![]()

And I’d like to know if anyone is having issues with hiss. I’m looking to maybe trade in my 9050s before the trial is up because of the hissing.
thank you

Welcome to the forum @TimGNO There is, but Costco won’t activate it for you, you’ll need a project to get it up and running, look forward to your review.

Yeah most likely “floor noise” with your good low frequency loss, not a lot can be done with just programming really, you should try a more powerful receiver to see if this helps

No hiss in mine. However if you are TV streaming directly into the aids, I recommend to have them muted for ambient room noises. This gives you a crisp and immersive TV experience. The only drawback is if someone wants to talk to you during the streaming, youll need to double tap your ear first to talk with them.

tinnitus-related features built into the Sonite R HAs
I had a tinnitus masker program added to my Phonak audeo p90r (note, a generation earlier than the sonite r ) HAs early on in my HA experience. The relief was really very minor. I had the program replaced in those aids with a calm program. The masker was a calm program with a pink noise layered over it. Maskers help a great deal when I’m not wearing the HAs. I have a pillow with speakers and a noise maker that the pillow plugs into. When I’m wearing aids, the noise is only very occasionally helpful. I find the free app widex zen tinnitus masker most helpful. But like most things related to hearing loss, what works best is a personal thing to be learned by experience, trial & error or success.
Best wishes!

I find the free app widex zen tinnitus
Zen is the one of the best features of my Widex SmartRIC - the fractal sounds are helpful (and very calming). It’s a shame that Widex did not include it with the Allures.
I agree with @WhiteHat :+1 for Zen

In fairness to Costco, some (most?) states limit who can legally treat tinnitus to people with doctorates, and most Costco staff members don’t qualify - and probably because their turnover is high, Costco has chosen not to let their audis use the anti-tinnitus features builst into the aids they sell.
So their customers have to choose between 1) no treatment, 2) , and 3) an app that runs on their phone.

some (most?) states limit who can legally treat tinnitus to people with doctorates,
That is something I never thought about, thanks. A very simple technology takes a doctorate to utilize.
