My audiology professor told that vocabulary size also plays a big role, although it consumes some energy from our biological “AI”, i.e. the energy spent on speech processing in the brain. Thanks for the answer.

@SandraN Excellent description of the arrows in your personal quiver, and delighted for you that adding sphere to the mix gives such great results. Hearing, interperting sound is a range of different skills, and accommodations - the hearing aids are what is most often discussed along with their programming, and while I/many of us hope for silver bullet, it is really the entire range of arrows that one applies that is usually most effective. I am still working on my “range” as my word recognition is quite poor, and Sphere mode is only occasionally helpful.

Clearly you spent years and put in the time to be effective with communication.

Make sure your aids are operating correctly. There is a known problem with the new style connection of your receiver to the Sphere’s that has affected a small percentage of users. It involves the connection being inadvertently damaged when the receiver is inserted. If your not perceiving a benefit in Sphere- “I recall that during my trial, spheric mode made a huge improvement, but not so this time.” this could be your problem.
