Trailing new Phonak Audeo infinio spheres 90 not meeting high frequency needs?

Audiologist recommended Audeo infinio to replace Audeo Paradise. I am concern because NAL doesn’t seem to meet my high frequency needs. (doing some self programming investigation after initial audiologist setting) Do not feel much of a difference in speech except with own voice being hollowy probably because audi plugged my custom mold which actually had a very large vent to help with sound. I think the plug is a .9mm – big difference, I know. Not sure its worth the money to upgrade and concerned about my voice being so hollowy. Definitely need new hearing aids bc my paradise hearing aids don’t meet my hearing needs anymore in high frequencies either. By the way my custom mold have UP receiver and still NAL is out of range for highs. Would love some advice.

You should post your if you haven’t already. It should be in your profile summary somewhere. On my old Phonak custom molds I have a 0.6. - 0.8 mm vent. I don’t experience much of a hollow boomy voice sound because my low frequencies are bad enough that it doesn’t echo around in my head at that vent level.

I struggle to think the hollow sensation you are describing is the result of the new hearing aid. You are describing an effect called occlusion, which is usually a mold issue, not necessarily a hearing aid issue.

To get this straight, you have two hearing aid models. The old ones are the Paradise and new one is the Spheres. On the paradise your voice was NOT boomy, but on the Spheres they are. On the Spheres the vent on your custom molds has been manually filled with a 0.9mm plug. That seems to be your issue - the plug.

NAL is subjectively out of range on everything for me. I prefer formulas, but if you have a severe hearing loss I wouldn’t encourage you to try this without confirmation from an audiologist that it is safe for you.

Which Infinio? Sphere or non-Sphere?

Both should be able to prescribe the same gain at high frequencies. Any differences in sound you may be experiencing are most likely due to the programming or molds, not the hardware. If your paradises are not meeting your high frequency needs, you should be able to fix this with programming. As @monke said, another fitting formula may give you higher gains at high frequencies (that’s why I chose over NAL-NA2).

The key distinction between the Infinio (Sphere) and Paradise lies in their performance in noisy environments.

I can see your just fine.
I think there were some technical issues with audiogram visibility on the forum recently. The issues seem to have improved, but there might be some lag on visibility of audiograms. The timing is suspiciously close to an “upgrade” of the forum software pretty recently. I’m pretty sure the technical staff have been working hard in the background to take care of some issues.
