USB audio volume level of roger on 3 is really low

I just got my Virto R aids today and a roger on 3. More on the Virtos later but sufficed to say I like. What I’m noticing is that the roger on 3 volume is far too low for my taste, especially in USB audio mode. I’ve also tried going via direct line in with the docking station and changing the volume buttons but it seems as if I’m at 100%. Do I have to get my audi to change the volume somehow? I’ve read on the web you can press and hold the function button fo the roger on 3 until you see a v and then change the volume but can’t seem to get this to work. Just surprised how low the actual audio volume on this thing is when in USB mode. I can make it louder by turning up the hearing aids, but then that turns down the hearing aid mics. Any ideas?

Change the Roger/ambient sound mix? Do the via the myphonak app, not sure if you have a way on virtos like you can with the buttons on audeos.

Na it’s not that, it’s the output of the Roger On itself is very low. I do want ambient sound around me as I work in an office. Apparently you can increase the volume by holding the multi function button the roger until you see a v come up on the screen then press the button to turn the volume up and down, but that doesn’t seem to work, I jusgt get a lock sign come up according to my wife. Maybe the audi needs to unlock that feature in the aids.

I think that your audiologist can change the default loudness up to a point. The more expensive receiver licenses ( type 02 vs 03 ) allow for more even more gain.

LOL a more expensive licence allows for more gain? that is absolutely nuts! how can they justify that? It’s not like Roger is going through a server, it’s not like anyone is paying for the bandwidth. Wow. Companies will never sease to amaze me :slight_smile: That’s like me saying hey I fancy listening to the radio at volume 6 tonight. OH well in that case £10 please for that extra click :slight_smile: I get it’s a transmitor but it’s not going to bring down aircraft is it.

The type provides access to a wider array of systems besides the volume differences. There is a whole class of fm systems which require it. The more expensive type is for educational purposes and maybe designed to milk more money out of schools and governments? Businesses are in business to make money. They focus on maximizing their profit.

Ah the extra systems access does make sense, apologies if I missed that in the post somewhere :slight_smile: Stil hoping in my remote session my audi can crnak up the volume somewhat.

This was the pain in the proverbial for me. You should turn your hearing aids and Roger off, then turn on them and keep the RogerOn no more than 10 cm from the one of the during long pressing the multifunctional button on the mic.

Please be careful with the loud sounds, because it is in steps from 0 to +2 to +4 until +8 , then minus 8, minus 6, minus 4 dB, etc. through 0 dB again and repeating the ‘circle’. You can’t try it in real time, you must everytime confirm new gain by long pressing of multifunctional button and then try it.

Wow this is complicated.

So if I understand you, this is what I do:

Turn off hearing aids and Roger

Turn on hearing aids and roger

Hold Roger 10 CM from hearing aid

Hold roger function button until V appears

then press roger function button a couple of times, each time is a 2 DB increase.

Then long press to confirm and change the volume.

Does this also work in USB mode?

FYI adjusting the roger volume using the function button only seems to adjust the mic. I can’t seem to get this to work with the USB mode. Will try to get someone sighted to help me do this just in case it’s bringing up a setting I’m not seeing, but don’t think it is. It’s a real shame because it’s an incredibly cool feature. There is also a weird issue with what I presume is power saving, in that every time Roger stops hearing audio it slightly powers or fades down. The effect when using a screen reader is that you miss the very start of words. “at” instead of “cat” for example. no way to change this that I can see, I doubt whether anyone has ever asked for this. Maybe a different type of licence would fix this, not sure.

Gains in RogerOn program can be adjusted in Target by audiologist like another program such as Calm situation, Speech in Noise, etc.

Make sure that before that adjustment your gain in verification mode is at 0 .
