As some of you know, I use Phonak Virto R ITe devices. I suffer from Cochlear Hydrops meaning I have low frequency hearing loss. However, I rarely put bass into my hearing aids because I find it masks speech horribly. I simply cannot understand what people are saying around me and all the pressure with the fitted device makes my condition worse.
However,I also use airpods 3, with a hearing test that they performed and I find their bass response acts very different. I can hear that they are putting more bass into my ear, but it is a more rounded bass and I’m able to understand speech far better.
Now there are a ton of variables here, an absolute shed load. My audio gram which yes, don’t complain you can’t see it I’m having trouble uploading it
the airpods fit differently in my ears etc. Also the airpods started off as earbuds not hearing aids.
My opinion is though, that hearing aids have tiny tiny tiny tinny speakers, where as airpods speakers were built on an entirely different platform. So they can’t amplify to the same degree, but I’d argue they amplify a much nicer cleaner more balanced sound.
I’m curious for people who have used them, what do you think?
Perhaps because I am totally blind and want the full environmental sound around me I take note of this a bit more, but I’ve used the airpods for days at a time now and I get by fairly well. They’re of course not as full featured but the sound is just nicer overall and I don’t have to tinker with it like I do the Phonaks.
