New Phonak Target update, New firmware available for Infinio

Phonak just released an update for Target 11.1
“Infinio Ultra performance upgrade. New faster feedback & real ear test and EasyGuard Vented available with the performance upgrade. General bug fixes and performance improvements”

New firmware available 1.1.11.0:
Infinio Ultra performance upgrade:
1.- AutoSense 7.0: 24% more precise adaption
2.- Feedback test under 12 seconds and available with remote support.
3.- One-step bluetooth pairing.
4.- Improved connectivity and streaming.
5.- iPhone voice isolation feature available.

I just copied/pasted the information shown in Phonak Target

EDIT: The feedback test gives different results now - It seems the maximum output for the receivers at 8K has increased (My feedback curves moved up significantly, see pictures below). I used Oticon OpenBass domes.

Yes, but I have now been retired for 11 years. My retirement was mostly due to my hearing loss. I was retirement age so it wasn’t that big an issue. At the time coworkers were looking forward to retirement but I was retirement age and didn’t have a clue what I would do when I retired. I had already traveled more than I ever desired to do. My retirement pushed me to do volunteer work for hard of hearing and other needy people. I pushed me to having reunions with old friends all over the country. And it forced me to move at 70 years old. It was the best move I could have ever made. It put me in front of the best audiologist that I could ever dream about having. And the move placed me back to where I love being out in a forest with mother nature.

Now this is…interesting. Quite the update for the Infinio range of , and I think this release is probably one of the reasons why Phonak hasn’t committed to pushing just yet. It doesn’t necessarily mean this was the best possible decision, but I can see why they would want to release this before dropping their current Bluetooth solution to go with LE/Auracast. I would not be surprised if the Ultra platform is in fact the framework upon which they will finally build their own Auracast solution.

So still no LEA, too bad the update is only any good for Ultra, no sphere feature still!

( I know it’s just Infinio model but time to cut the crap and make sphere a standard feature)

Oh ok they give you 24% more precise adaption in Autosence ( 24% could be.. maybe who knows, how could one even measure such a claim?) seems the only thing worth the hype is the one thing a lot of Phonakians complaining about the Bluetooth connection so “Improved connectivity and streaming” is a winner.

I’m afraid, I didn’t get what do you mean? Update is available for all Infinios?

If you have Phonak Target installed on your Windows PC: open the Target software , select Updates tab. see picture.

Yes it’s all there I’m sure, but I mean the customer, the end user.

Seems like a new Phonak dome. Below is the description from Phonak.

"Our Phonak patented EasyGuard domes reduce the struggle of changes by revolutionizing wax management with an innovative, sound-transmitting, sealed membrane. Designed to protect the receiver from wax buildup, helping to extend the lifespan of hearing aids.

And there was lots, those pesky little buggers, the CeruShield fiasco, but their listening, because they changed the receiver and now they have these new domes, nicely done from Sonova..

The Phonak streaming bluetooth connection in the menu is gone (iPhone). To connect / disconnect the streaming , you have to use the app

I don’t care , it was faster to change it in the Bluetooth menu .
The whole pairing process , including management , can be done with at app. Having everything in one place can be simpler for some people.

What I find is that they changed the naming conventions and put the control for streaming in the app as you say. There used to be the low-energy BT 4.x connections, LE-Phonak hearing aid and RE-Phonak hearing aid plus the classic BT connection, something like R-Phonak hearing aid. Now they’ve done away with the distinction in naming for the LE and the classic BT connections for the master . They’re both called “R-Phonak hearing aid” and the left is now L-Phonak hearing aid. And as you say, you can’t toggle streaming on and off in the iOS BT device list, but if you go to the Devices tab in the MyPhonak app under Hearing Aid Settings, there is a STREAMING VIA BLUETOOTH setting with a subtitle of Setup Bluetooth Streaming. When you open that option screen, there is a toggle to turn BT streaming on or off. When you turn it off, you’ll find one of the two R-Phonak hearing aid listings in the iOS BT settings now says “Disconnected.”

My main gripe (besides making both master HA BT connection names the same) is that they buried the BT toggle deep in the MyPhonak menus. They should have made toggling BT streaming in the app a top-level choice. But putting streaming control in the app and making it RULE is a good thing. I’d often turn off BT streaming in iOS settings to save battery and find that something like an iPhone reboot got it turned back on again

I did notice that if you turn it off in the app, it stays off even after rebooting the aids. I wish Phonak had added a small Bluetooth button on the main screen of the app instead of hiding it in the settings menu.
