New Phonak Target update, New firmware available for Infinio

I’ve tried multiple things. I have a Motorola G54, which worked very well before the upgrade.

Additionally, when I stop streaming, it now takes a second or two before my hearing aids unmute. That delay was normal with my old Marvel hearing aids, but not with the Infinio — they used to unmute instantly after streaming stopped, until the upgrade.

Interesting. I’ve noticed a few somewhat similar quirks - like the Spheres remaining in “streaming plus mic” mode even after streaming is done.

I wouldn’t be too surprised if there’s a follow-up minor update at some point before very long, cleaning up some of these problems. I’m not familiar with how Phonak and its peers work, but that would be a fairly normal thing after a major, possibly disruptive software change.

I’d recommend not doing this. I tried it and it took much fiddling on phone, app and Target over several hours to pair to phone and app. And now I can only pair one aid to the app.

I think it will be developed, but the last firmware upgrade was so massive that it required more stable and proven methods to avoid bricking the hearing aid.

Just got back home from the audiologist after getting the firmware on my Phonak I90 Sphere’s updated to the new “Ultra” version.

I will probably need a few days to report back on the differences between the old and new Ultra firmware update but I will say that speech is definitely crisper/clearer with the new firmware. I also got the feeling that the directionality was slightly different and I was hearing quite a bit more background sounds too. While I was sitting in the audiologists office with my back to his office door, I could hear the receptionist (down the hall) talking to someone on the phone. That seemed odd to me given the sound was coming from behind me.

Hoping the firmware update include some Bluetooth fixes and I’ll take any battery improvement I can get.

I’ll post an update when I’ve spent more time messing around.

I am running the new firmware since yesterday and I have not heard one drop out while streaming. All my notifications have been complete instead of the first half a second missing 25% of the time. I have been switching from ipad to iPhones and back as a stress test, but it has been rock solid all the time.

The best streaming results i got with the old firmware were very short (100ms?) Drop outs every few minutes. Now nothing, just like my other Bluetooth headphones/earbuds.

Fingers crossed it stays this way.

I have not noticed any difference in the sound. Do you indeed need to do a feedback test or reset to standard settings to heard a difference?

Still can only pair one aid to my phone - Motorola Neo Edge 40. So now thinking I’ll need to get a new phone!

I just finished a full afternoon with multiple Microsoft Teams meetings using Bluetooth from my Dell work laptop to the Sphere’s and then two workout sessions with my Sphere’s connected to my Peloton bike. I also had a bunch of work and person calls on my iPhone 16 Pro Max via the Sphere’s and didn’t experience a single drop off all afternoon.

So far so good Phonak. I will also say that the app connects faster and stays connected. Tonight I’m heading over to my son’s house for a dinner with his wife’s family. 8 noisy people gabbing around the dinner table should be a really good test for Jordan and his new Ultra ears.

Thanks @JordanK . Looking forward to your ongoing tests. When I met you at Jeff’s I had just received a pair of Spheres to trial. So far I like them but I will be asking to get the firmware upgraded too. Thank you for all of your very informative posts. Jon.

Ah that’s something different indeed, have you tried removing the app and removing the Bluetooth connection with your phone by deleting it and then installing the app again and let the app connect to your HA’s ? If you connect Bluetooth first without using the app it can cause these problems

Yes tried everything except a new phone!

How do you force the switch in “master” connection? I’ve re-paired a few times already, and I don’t recall being given an option.

That’s also my problem, I’ve tried deleting connections, the app, etc. Still an issue.

I think it’s something wrong with the firmware of the hearing aids or with the app
