Wax Trap Problem / Firmware / Phonak Sphere

Twice recently, the wax trap tip on my Spheres would fall out into the canal of my ear and I had to get them pulled out (not a pleasant feeling). So today, I had an appointment with my audiologist at the and she said I’m not the first person to report this problem. Evidently, the metal holding thingamabob on the receiver that friction holds the wax trap tips, may push them out due to a manufacturing problem.

So, she re ordered my receivers (and added a little bit of length to the wire for more comfort). Next week, I have to meet her in person as evidently, there’s a firmware update for the Spheres. Firmware has to be done in person, not over the app, FYI.

Well that’s not a very good thing to happen, I’ve heard of domes coming off, but the ? haven’t heard of that, but as you get new receiver you may as well get the type dome that was just released to help as well EasyGuard, but how does the wax filter get passed the domes in your ear I wonder.

Are you wearing custom slim tips, regular slim tips with the , or standard open Domes. It makes difference. as of the 2.0 release phonak is shipping shares with slim tips, your audiologist would need to order the custom slim to from an ear mold. FYI. Good luck

oh that make sense now, it’s custom mold, yeah that’s not good for that to come off, you might need the mold remade to have them “click” in and stay there!

Hello all, I am a new poster hear. I am looking to getting the phonak infinio sphere as my next set of hearing aids. I currently use widex moment 440 as my hearing loss is defined as severe. In our experience, are the phonak nfinio’s better with directional sound? I am very active and travel a lot but I find with my Moments i sometimes have difficulty hearing where sounds come from especially traffic. An thoughts are appreciated. I apologize if this topic is not the correct one for my question.

I am wearing the Oticon INTENT1 aids and will be getting the Phonak Spheres early December. I will be getting custom ear molds too.

Before I got my Phonak I 90 Sphere Ultras I hade Widex Evoke 440’s. It was like going from a Go Kart to an Enzo Ferrari. The Sphere’s can be amazing. I have had mine for 6 weeks. I have had three programing sessions for evaluation, advanced programming and fine turning. I will continue to fine true, but expect to be 100% set up by mid January. This platform is POWERFUL. Nothing you can’t hear with the right programming. Build you custom programs from your base program they apply soundsense 7. Hoping to go into super noisy restaurant this weekend to stretch the DEEPSonic voice in noise program and see how latest adjustments apply. Good luck.

Yes I have the Spheres and they are very good. So are the INTENT1 aids. The Spheres are much better for speech in very noisy environments. Also I don’t have the Utra Spheres. I am waiting for my audiologist to get the firmware update.

More than likely not until the May contract. Knowing that the doesn’t take kindly to the to bugs in the firmware, it probably due to the bug in the Utra firmware bug that noted on his YouTube channel. The firmware update deletes all settings in the aids and they have to be reloaded from target.

It doesn’t do it 8n every case. Mine updated just fine, I was very happy until my va audiologist couldn’t program my aids because the firmware version made them incompatible with his target.

That has been my experience as well, I’ve never lost the settings after a firmware update.

Is this a common problem with The Spheres ? My Cerustop traps in my custom cShell molds have always been quite loose - it’s always been difficult to get them to stay in the molds and off of the insertion tool. Today one of them wouldn’t stay in at all - it looks like the grommet or whatever in the mold has come out and the hole is way too big now for the Cerustop. So, they’ve gone back to Phonak for fixing (with a $90 charge !). Just wondered if anyone else has this problem. Thanks.
