I had one back in 2000, in my right ear. Not a great experience overall, as you can see in my . However, from everything I’ve read, I’m definitely one of the few unlucky ones.

I had aa stapedectomy in 2003. At the time it was very successful at the time but now that side is very poor. I will have an next week to see if it is still intact .

I had a stapedectomy on my left ear in 2021. Hearing was good for about a month or so. Then one fine morning, the ear felt clogged when I woke up & hearing was diminished. It’s been that way till date. My thinks the piston may have moved. He also thinks there’s a sensorineural component to my hearing loss, so it may not be worth re-operating. I didn’t follow up after that & chose to go with digital hearing aids. Right now, the hearing in my left ear is actually worse than my unoperated right ear. But I’m able to manage with my Phonaks. Guess I’m one of the unlucky ones too.
