I asked about this in another thread, and received a good response or two. But I still have questions.
I wanted sports locks, because I have had my pop out onto the floor too many times!! And once on the sidewalk!
The main problem that causes this is juggling HAs, a mask, which comes on and off, reading glasses (on and off), and a plastic headband.
I got lots of great responses. I am still trying to figure out the best fixes. I find that I forget when I’m taking the mask off, and that is the worst culprit. Although the glasses on and off are also a bit of a problem.
But in reference to the sports locks: when the HA fitter cut the sports locks to put on my aids, I instinctively felt as I saw him do it that he was cutting them too short—even though I’d never seen them before. I was too polite to speak up. They are about 1" long.
But what happens in my ear is that they curve around inside my ear a bit and then don’t curve further, instead of curving around a bit more. Someone in the previous thread said that his were about 1-1/2" long.
Am I probably right that they are too short? Aren’t they supposed to curve around the inside of the ear a little more?
I know that I also need other fixes in addition to the sports locks, and am trying other fixes. (On the reading glasses, I am getting Scleral lenses in December, and that should fix that part).
Edit: I just went back to that previous thread, and looked again at a response and see that, indeed, it seems that I am right, that he cut the line too short, so that they don’t curve around enough to do the job.
