Trouble streaming to CI and hearing aid from computer — need advice

Hi everyone,

I just got my cochlear implant activated and I’m excited to start putting in the work! I have my on one ear and a Resound One hearing aid on the other. Both pair nicely with my iPhone, and I’m able to stream to both of them simultaneously, which is amazing.

Now, I’m trying to achieve the same setup from my computer or laptop, but I’m running into issues. I have three devices that are supposed to allow streaming to both my CI and hearing aid:

  1. Cochlear Wireless Mini Microphone 2+

  2. ReSound Phone Clip+

  3. GN TV Streamer+

I’ve tried pairing and connecting them, but I can’t get any audio streaming to both devices at the same time.

Has anyone successfully done this, or know what might be causing the problem? Any advice or troubleshooting tips would be hugely appreciated!

I don’t have any experience of the devices you’re talking about sorry, but does the phone clip have an audio input on it? can you take a direct line out of the computer and stream to both your and hearing aid at the same time? you can’t stream to 2 devices from the computer at the same time, what you need to do is stream into one which will output to the other 2.

In my case I use a Roger V3 for my Phonak, is that compatible with your hearing aids and CI do you iknow? that is by far the best way of doing it.

@Xonic83 No, Phonak is not compatible with Cochlear . Only compatible and other devices mentioned above are Resound accessories.

@CC41 I think it’s the Multimic that you need to connect to the laptop, I’m not sure how though
I know if you want to connect another device you need to turn off on your phone. Hope that helps.
Hmm mini mic 2 isn’t compatible with the N8. I got a mini mic 2 a couple of months ago and couldn’t pair it. Then got told it’s not compatible. I had to exchange it for the mini mic.

Hi @CC41 , you can use a FlooGoo FMA120 as an receiver on your iPhone. If your iPhone can stream audio simultaneously to both your and your ReSound device, then you should be able to receive audio from your computer, using another FMA120 as the Auracast transmitter.

Another user in Poland has already set this up using our newer FMA121 model, but the FMA120 also works for this use case.

I hadn’t thought about using a HUB with a phone, although it’s worth noting that it might not work — that was the case with the Pico-ASHA shermp project when I connected the Pi Pico 2W with a HUB to a computer. Still, I’d be happy to test it. It’s true that Apple doesn’t support Auracast. LE Audio is reportedly implemented in some models, but it still doesn’t allow using LE Audio with hearing aids even when they technically support it. Which processor do you have?

The newest Nexa implants and processors might be active but not sure. The earlier N7/8 and K2/3 processors are not LE Audio active for sure at this time.

The Resound and Cochlear set up can stream together using the Nucleus Smart only in compatible devices. This app ties the both together for streaming and controls.

If you can get streaming from the PC to both your aid and processor there might be a sync difference in sound that could make that intolerable.

I am curious about this too. Other members are way smarter about this stuff than I am..

I believe @Deaf_piper is onto someone with the mini mic. It just might work. The TV streamer is another option that might work too pending on the hook-ups on your PC. I am bilateral so can’t try things to help.

With , there is a defined “presentation time” that specifies when all channels begin rendering. This allows devices—even from different vendors—to start playback at exactly the same moment. If manufacturers implement this correctly, synchronization should not be an issue.

must use a similar mechanism to ensure both sides stay in sync. So if the and ReSound hearing aids are treated as a pair when streaming via MFi from the iPhone, then the approach I suggested in my previous post should not have any sync problems.

Technically, if both the CI and ReSound hearing aids support LE Audio and are programmed as a pair (likely done through the fitting software by assigning the same identification code for pairing), then any standard LE Audio source device can stream to them just like a normal Bluetooth headset.

This is the part that I am not sure of. The Cochlear and Resound pairing is done through the Cochlear Nucleus Smart app. I also know the audiologist has to set the aid and processor up in the Cochlear Custom Sound Pro software to pair. This is for Android and iOS. could change all this I hope. Simplify

Cochlear has not enabled LE Audio on any processors that I know of at this time. The N8, K3 and Nexa processors are LE Audio ready.

That is an important detail — one I had assumed but couldn’t previously confirm first-hand.

Regarding the approach I suggested (using the FMA120 with an iPhone to receive the PC’s stream): if the iPhone shows the and ReSound device as a single paired audio target in Control Center, as in the example below, then there is no reason the method wouldn’t work. This setup has already been used successfully by many users.

When setting upthe PC dont forget you need a optical cable frpm the PC optical slot on the bak of your PC , connect the other end to the optiacal slot on the TV streamer . You need too allocate a channel number to the Tvstreamer .The streamer has three channels so you can connect a maximum of 3 devices . I have 2 streamers (TV , PC and minimke2) and the minin mike connetcred streamer .The instructions book let from cochlear tells you precisely how to connect properly . Ihave the N7 and a resound and everything worked perfectly for thr last three years for me .

I’m bilateral and use the mini mic for my desk top computer. All I do is plug the mini mic into

the headphone jack on one of my speakers. The sound is stereo not mono.
