Anyone try the new Soundgear aids at Costco?

I have worn the Sound Gear for about a month. I agree that the edge mode seems gimmicky. I can only tell that it increases the volume for everything. It does not help with clarity. They are incredible in atmospheres like costco but otherwise not a fan. I have an appointment with costco for an adjustment this afternoon and hoping it will make a difference.

When I switch to music mode in the car it increases road noise so much that I can’t use it.
Of course this will happen, as all the extra features are turned off, it’s for music not loud environmental noise.

No not really, you could be at a concert which is pretty loud, but won’t do much when trying to have a conversation..

I wear the Starkey edge .
Music mode turns off the noise reduction feature.
That’s why when you’re not in music mode music sounds bad.
That’s also why you hear all the road noise.
In the my Starkey app when you use the edge mode you should be able to choose between three modes.
I’m guessing you have a My Soundgear app?
Best all around sound.
Speech clarity.
Noise reduction.
Noise reduction helps in noisy situations like a restaurant.
Like always noise reduction is more noticeable with moulds.

Can any Soundgear user comment on listening to recorded music?
Recorded music just doesn’t sound right to me. The highs sound flat, the lows sound sharp, and the timing and dynamics on my favorite recordings just don’t sound right.
Thanks in advance.
Luckily, live music has always been OK with hearing aids.

I can’t comment on recorded music but I feel everything is a bit flat with my soundgears. I have only worn them for a month but my experience is that sounds of speech and environmental sounds are equally loud making it harder to distinguish speech. Haven’t noticed this with other aids. I am not sure if this is a soundgear feature or the way my fitter has set them.

I am returning the Soundamp and am going to try the Jabra Pro 30. Too many negatives with the Soundamp for me.

Signed up for the Soundgear AMP today, and I was generally impressed by the Costco service, but I left with a question unanswered. The Costco tech told me they never setup tinnitus programs on any of their hearing aids, and I know several are capable. The Soundgear AMP is capable of running Starkeys “Multiflex” therapy program and everything I’ve read says the tech needs to both activate it and set it up to the individuals needs.
Anyone get this done, or know what the deal is ?

Welcome to the forum @Kiwiaudio sure they are perfectly capable but it’s true that Costco won’t activate the feature, you can do a project with a Noahlink wireless programming device tho if it’s essential for you.

When I got the SoundGear AMP, I asked the same question about tinnitus programs and was told that their software is locked down, so they cannot activate those features. They explained that the company does not use tinnitus masking. However, if you have access to the fitting software, the tinnitus masking options can be enabled

Not true, they don’t have a “special” version, it’s the same answer they give to everyone regardless of which brand you buy, “can’t be done” etc

Tenkan, you’re misunderstanding me. I don’t mean a special version of the software—I mean that Costco’s own fitting software is locked down so they cannot configure anything related to tinnitus masking. They literally cannot make changes to those settings. If you know otherwise, I would genuinely like to see how, because I have seen these limitations firsthand.
The tinnitus options are greyed out or missing in Costco‑programmed hearing aids because of how Costco configures the software, not because the hardware can’t support them. The underlying devices (ReSound, Rexton, Jabra, SoundGear AMP, etc.) do support tinnitus features, but Costco’s fitting environment intentionally disables or hides them. This is a policy and workflow choice, not a technical limitation. But when I program it myself, I can see those tinnitus options normally.
I do extensive testing with hearing aids and programming, and I study each module from the major manufacturers. Costco uses Sycle Office Management Software, similar to NOAH, and I have multiple devices (Rexton Reach, SoundGear AMP, Sennheiser Sonite R, and Jabra Enhance Pro 30). Every time I watch them program these devices, certain sections are missing or completely greyed out for them.

I can’t speak for other states or providers outside of Costco, but I do know that Costco Hearing Aid Dispensers are not adequately trained to treat tinnitus. Their scope is limited to basic hearing aid fitting and adjustments—they’re not equipped to provide tinnitus therapy or sound-based masking protocols. This is consistent with what I’ve observed across multiple Costco locations and fittings
