I like the ultra update a lot. Battery life was never an issue, but even better now. Before, I don’t think I ever went below 50% with one exception when I was in spherical for about 4 hours. Usually right around 60% now.
Program transitions are much smoother with ultra. Only spherical really sticks out as “different”. Other transitions are so transparent that I wonder what program is primary and have to look at the app to find out. Rarely to change anything, just curiosity. Most common exception is when it goes into a noise program in a music environment. Quick to change to music.
@WhiteHat, @cvkemp - How do you have your bluetooth setup? I can’t seem to keep connections on my Infinio non-sphere I90 plus stable enough. I am connected to, 24/7 almost:
Main PC
Laptop for work
First TV (32 inch) above my PC
Second TV (55 inch w/TV connector) on opposite wall
I always have to physically disconnect the aids from my main PC in order to connect to my laptop. There appears to be no automatic switching between bluetooth connections, which is slightly disappointing. So from the main PC to the laptop for work, to the first TV, to the second TV, every time I want to watch something on each device, I have to turn it off on one source to activate it on another source.
Which is slightly disappointing but I can live with it.
Also, every time I leave the room, it disconnects and goes back to “normal” volume rather than the volume level set on my app. I seem to need to keep the app/iPhone with me at all times.
You can only be connected to a maximum of 2 devices at a time. Yes you can pair to more but be connected to a max of 2.
I have my aids paired to my Samsung phone all the time and connected all the time. I have them paired to my Amazon Fire Tablet, Kindle e ink reader, and Android Tablet. I have disconnect sometimes to insure a connection to a different device. I have the Roger ON3 and is works as my TV adaptor.
Right now, only paired to iPhone. I’ve had it paired to my iPad but many web pages insist on putting “silent” videos on the page (which start a stream) even when no audio is playing. So I hook my iPad up to Roger on via media cable. Slide the Roger on when I want to hear. No biggie. (Does it on the phone, too, but I tend to switch to iPhone speaker output in that situation. But I don’t experience the issue as much on the phone. I haven’t paired to anything more than temp pairing for a situation beyond that in a long time. It switches between iPad and iPhone seamlessly, but maybe too easily.
@cvkemp - I wonder if there is an issue with mine. Because I have to turn off any bluetooth connection to connect to another one. I cannot connect to 2 at once (computer and TV, for example).
@cvkemp - Ahhhh we’re mixing up terms. So you can be paired to multiple devices at once. But an active streaming connection can only happen on one device at a time. That’s what I define as connected, anyway.
Yes but you still can be paired and connected to 2 Bluetooth devices at a time. There will always be one that takes priority and for me that is my phone.
@cvkemp - OMG. You are right. All this time I have been putting my aids back in the charger to reconnect when I could have simply disconnected the device in settings and reconnected the device (much simpler than it sounds the way I am typing it out right now).
Thank you for setting that straight. Game changer for me. LOL
And that wraps up another episode of how codergeek2015 has been a little stupid with his new hearing aids…..
@Bimodal_user - Nope. I haven’t. There isn’t a way for me to do so now that I am past the trial period. I like these aids and plan on keeping them for the next 5 years. Minimum.
I am removing the manual program that was set up when I first got my aids. The automatic program is enough, the aids do automatically what the manualprogram does no need for duplicates.
Each to his own, but I’d leave the dedicated Spheric noise reduction program. You may find some environments where you really want speech clarity, the are wobbling in AutoSense between Speech in Noise and Spheric Speech in Loud Noise, and you just want the clearest speech all the time so you don’t miss anything. It’s also handy to have another dedicated program or two to go to if you don’t want Spheric noise reduction running at all, no matter how noisy it is. I have a Calm program set to maximum noise reduction and the lowest possible volume when I’m working in a noisy environment, so I get the least sound input into my ears without chewing up the HA batteries.
I encountered both “stay-in” and “stay-out” of Spheric noise reduction environments just the other day. Went to brunch in a noisy cafe with my wife. Customers talking noisily in the booth behind her, rock 'n’ roll music blaring through the overhead speakers, with alternating louder and quieter moments. Seemed like the time for full-time Spheric noise reduction all the time so I went to the dedicated program. At the gym, a lot of clanking weights and weight machines and loud overhead music and background chatter, but since I was exercising by myself, I didn’t want Spheric noise reduction to come on in AutoSense, and it was. So, I switched to my Calm in Noise program.

It’s a pity. You could at least try Spheres, after all, you could always go back to Infinio R + .
I found that CROS It is proposed more out of routine and habit than an actual analysis of the benefits. Fingers crossed for getting the most of your setup.
@Bimodal_user - I really can’t. Can we please stop it here? My audiologist simply won’t do it. And I don’t have the cash outlay to do it at this time. So can we please drop it? Thank you.
