Can I ask the audio to turn on aurocast function so I can use in a setting that uses aurocast? Had anyone had this experience?Specs on the Phonak Spheres say they are aurocast capable but currently turned off. Thanks.
Yes, the hardware is capable, but a firmware update is required to make use of that capability. Phonak has indicated that a future firmware update will be released to provide that functionality.
Hi cvkemp. I’m so pleased that the Spheres are working so well for you. I see that you did therapy in order to understand speech - would that be Auditory Processing training? I did some training with an audiologist until she left the practice unexpectedly, and it is only now that another audiologist has taken this up. I’d be really pleased to hear about your training.
It was more or less speech recognition and listen. It was done by a high school teacher that actually trained high school kids to listen as for as improving debating.
I have just gone back and looked at my time wearing the Phonak Spheres and two things stand out. First is that battery life is fantastic, and second I am streaming a lot more. My Spheres haven’t been updated to Ultras yet so maybe once they are the battery life will improve even more. I have an appointment scheduled for early April for some minor adjustments. I believe my aids autosense is switching to quickly to noisy environments, this is more than likely due to my years wearing Oticon aids. I have a balance issue with my aids and need the volume of my right aid, my worse ear, raised. I am hoping that the finally has the Ultra firmware update.
Another question with the Roger ON3 and the TV adapter built-in to the base is there some adjustment to prevent it from engaging when the TV is turned on. It is very irritating to be streaming a call or audio book and my wife powers on the TV. I can be in my Man Cave and the TV is on the opposite side of the house.
Also we have a Jeep Grand Cherokee, which is very quiet, and in the GC the aids switch to Spherical program. Again that isn’t wanted because I enjoy road noise and having the windows open.
I know there is for tv connector. I’d expect it for Roger, too. You’d get tones in your ear when the connection is available. Click button to accept, otherwise ignore. You might get the tones every time you went out/back into range. But it wouldn’t be grabbing your ears. Done in target, of course.

Yes, in Target you can select “Manual plus beep” for the TV Connector. Once selected, it does the same for Roger. As you say, you get a “two-tone” chime when either is available. You can connect with a short press, but you only get about 5 seconds to do that. If you miss it, or just choose to connect later, you can do so by scrolling through with long presses. Bluetooth, however, overrides everything, and doesn’t have this option.

I haven’t posted much for a while. I have been more concerned with my eyes and vision. Also my Phonak Spheres, not yet Ultras, are fantastic yi the point I am almost scared to get them updated. I have my annual hearing exam at the end of July and will get my aids updated then. Something interesting to report over the last 15 to 18 months I have been researching and adjusting my supplements for the soul purpose of helping my eyes and vision and I believe I have helped my hearing too. My tinnitus doesn’t seem as bad. Getting my cataracts removed has been a God sent blessing. I now have 20/20 vision with corrective lenses, mostly for close up work. I can read lips so much better too. A little something I have learned. Beets and oranges are great combination for the eyes and it also helps lower blood pressure. Also beetroot supplements are great if you don’t like eating beets. I actually love pickled beets.
It’s good to see another satisfied post-cataract surgery person. It’s been over 2 years since my surgeries, and for me it’s been wondrous. It’s the first procedure that didn’t just fix or mitigate some age-related problem, but made things better than they ever were. Mention of beets takes me back a long, long time. I haven’t had beets since I was a kid so have no idea how I’d feel about them now.
Glad you are having great results from your cataract surgery. I was practically born with glasses. My “good eye” was about 20:300. When I had cataract surgery about 4 years ago, suddenly, I could actually see the trees and the alarm clock when I woke up in the morning. But the biggest surprise for me was the change in color. I didn’t realize how much of a yellow or golden cast everything had before the surgery. Like most people will say, “I wish I had done it sooner.”
The one issue with beets for me is that I have to choose my wardrobe carefully so the juice I spill on my shirt doesn’t stand out too much and let people know how much of a slob I really am.
Nice to hear your vision improved a lot post cataract surgery. See better hear better! Brain response faster. Eat a lot of the colorful vegetables & fruits. Sweet potatoes are good especially (yellow or purple color).
Buy a reading glass, helps a lot in close up works.
