Has anyone heard when Rexton will release upgrades for the Rexton Reach hearing aids? lt appears that most major hearing aid manufacturers have released Auracast updates. It is difficult to understand why Rexton is delaying this important hearing aid feature. I hope they are not waiting for the red fruit company’s support announcement. This makes me begin to regret my hearing aid choice. I am sure this delay will also impact new or upgrading customer choices too.
Signia/Rexton officially announced that none of their current products will get per document below (see FAQ). They made this announcement months ago. No delays, they are not going to do it. There is another thread in this forum where this was discussed. Connectivity & pairing support for Signia hearing aids | Signia44
for the question: Are Signa hearing aids compatible with the codec that is used for Low Energy Audio ()?
→ Signia IX hearing aids with firmware 25.5.972.3 or newer are compatible with LE Audio.
for the question: Do Signia hearing aids support ?
→ Currently Signia hearing aids do not support Auracast. Although some hearing aids support Low Energy Audio, Auracast compatibility has additional hardware and software requirements. We are constantly monitoring the consumer electronics market for Auracast compatibility and adoption rates, especially when it comes to public infrastructure. Once Auracast has been integrated on a larger scale, we will react accordingly to ensure our future hearing aids will allow users to take advantage of Auracast devices and technology.
If I were a lawyer I’d be wondering whether you could technically “support ” and not support . In the first year or two after LE Audio was announced there was no such as thing as Auracast. There was LE Audio, and LE Audio included unicast (point-to-point) and broadcast audio. Broadcast audio was eventually given the label Auracast- presumably for marketing reasons- but it’s still part of the LE Audio specification.
If I bought a LE Audio hearing aid I’d expect it to support Auracast as well as unicast. I don’t think that expectation is unreasonable. As for the claim that there are hardware limitations that prevent Signia from supporting Auracast… is there anyone who thinks that’s plausible?
Signia would probably argue that there’s no requirement for them to support all of the spec. Still, I think it’s very poor form.
Truth is, Signia did not included in the IX specs (other companies like Resound did) so the expectations of Signia having Auracast were based on assumptions that = Auracast mostly .
What makes sense to me is : Signia released the IX in the fall 2023 which means most likely the may release a new platform soon (months?). In this case, a company may prefer to prioritize their resources on the new launch in that will generate $$$$ rather than a platform that will stop selling soon .
I’ve spent my work life working in tech and I always tell people : buy products based on the specs at the time of purchase, not on future predictions , rumors or promises . Just look at what happened with Apple Intelligence, promised with the iPhone 15 and it is still not working well with the iPhone 17.
I fully understand the frustration but I also understand what happens to a product when it is nearing its end-of-sales from a product development perspective .
I’m not saying Signia is right … I’m attempting to explain something that I’ve seen many times before.
