Target AutoSense OS (streaming)

When walking and listening to a Podcasts, I need the Phone App set as Bluetooth streaming + mic setting Ambient balance Audio 30% to right to reduce traffic noise.

To hear my wife while watching TV I need the Phone App set as TV Connector + mic setting Volume Center Ambient Surrounding – TV Surrounding Max Left.

The settings in the Phone App don’t directly relate with those in Target. How can I configure Target for something like my settings in the App, please?

Try fiddling here, although I’ve never tried. Also, you don’t need the app for ambient balance, the rocker switch does this same thing

Unfortunately Bluetooth Streaming, TV Connector and Restaurant are built in programs that are not accessible in Target so they can’t be configured. For me TV audio sounds too high pitched in TV Connector and I’d like to adjust that program but it’s not available.

After making your ambient balance adjustments you just might have to save those as new custom programs.

I believe the Autosence streaming can be adjusted for TV connecter, I don’t have one to confirm tho.

As @PeterH shows in the Target menu, you can access the media speech+mic autosense program to make changes to it. If you click on “steaming programs” you will find you can adjust for the TV connector as well. For some unknown reason the Phonak app doesn’t let you adjust much for those programs vs the non-streaming ones - so that is were Target can be particularly helpful if you need to make changes beyond volume and mic settings.

Yes you can make changes to the gain settings …. but not the balance between streamed volume vs microphone/ambient volume.
you have to do that in the app.

Resound progaming software allows you to reduce the microphone volume 3, 6,9. db for the TV-connector, and also in the phone app.

If you select “media speech + mic” or “media music + mic” and then select the “fine tuning” tab near the top of the screen, you will see an option for the hearing aid microphone. You can turn it off, or set it between -10 to 0 db (0 db is the default), which I believe would have the same overall results as setting the balance in the app. However, changing it for one of those programs also changes it to the same value for the other program. The other 3 streaming programs (PartnerMic + mic, Phone call + mic, and RodgerDirect) di have individually settable hearing aid mic settings. At least that is what I am seeing when I bring up the latest version of Target (11.1.1).

That’s a PRS Custom 24. It had Dragon II pickups, which were great but I switched out the bridge pickup for PRS HFS. The neck pickup was good. However, my best sounding PRS was an early PRS CE24, with its rotary switch. Sadly, the thin neck profile gave me cramp

Many thanks for you helpful comments. It seems that I am not alone with this problem. I will continue to try adjustments with Target. It would not be so bad if you could save a custom program within the App but that is not possible.

You can make changes in the app and save them as a user program. Unfortunately, the app doesn’t let you change much for the streaming programs. That doesn’t make sense to me since it lets you adjust quite a few settings for the non-streaming autosense programs.

Yeah, the best setup for music is going to be different than for speech. You will likely want a separate program just for music with less compression and limiting, and with more “even” gain across the spectrum. A Phonak rep quickly tried to set something up for me like that, but it is far too loud and still seems to have more emphasis (for my hearing loss) in certain frequency ranges. I will be experimenting with that program myself to try and get it the best it can be as a manual program for when I am playing my guitar or am in a situation where there is just music, and will also try to get the automatic music program to sound a bit more musical as well for situations where the aids need to automatically switch between speech and music.

I have come to the conclusion that there are two different processing methods for music. One for music from the mic’s, digital and the other for streaming from TV Connector and Bluetooth. For me streaming sound considerable better.I use it with all program options and SR2 of and the gain set to max for all frequencies above 3k. I play keyboard connected to a TV connector and playing piano it sounds pretty good, dropping off a bit on the higher notes, more so on the right my right my worst ear. I could live with that but I still need to do something about music via the mics. I have messaged Phonak Technical via the app with my suspicions and asking for comment. Surprise, surprise no reply.
