I asked about setting one hearing aid to control the volume and one to change the program. That can’t be done independently.

However, I see that you can select the volume and program changes where both hearing aids have the same settings.

Edit: It appears that the Costco fitter didn’t know the HearSuit well enough. I now see that you don’t have to have both hearing aids synchronized to change the programs.

The volume does have to be synchronized to both hearing aids. However, one aid will increase the volume and one aid will decrease the volume.

Yes, I had mine set up and now the right button increases volume and left decreases with a quick push. A longer push moves the program up on the right and down on the left. I have four programs and the tv audio as a fifth.

I have the 9050’s and even after they adjusted them I had to run them down 3 levels, sometimes 4. They see fine and work well with my iphone both with streaming and phone calls. Also works well with my computer which is a Macbook. If these for whatever reason aren’t working for you than try another.

They should have set your prescription to increase your volume slowly overtime. And since you haven’t had hearing aids before, they will sound a little loud due to the fact you can hear now. But ask what percentage they have it set at.

Another question for you (or anyone who has the Avantree Voyager HA) Do you need your phone in order to reconnect every time? Or after then initial pairing can you reconnect without a phone?

I have Philips 9050 and Voyager HA. You still need the Philips phone app to activate Auracast mode each time. I also have set up a password to my Voyager HA broadcast, so I need to enter the password each time in the app.

Thanks for the insight. I’m looking at the Voyager HA for dual-use: portable audio tours and home desktop audio. While it seems functional, the requirement to keep the phone nearby is a bit of a drawback for home use.

In comparison, my Floogoo FMA120 handles auto-reconnection and multipoint well, though I still find myself manually disabling phone Bluetooth occasionally to ensure the audio switches over to the PC correctly.

@northbear Both the Floogoo FMA 121 and the Avantree Voyager HA support Auracast mode.

If you mean listening through Auracast, the key point is that reconnection is determined by the hearing aids, not by the transmitter. Neither the FMA 121 nor the Avantree Voyager HA can actively reconnect to hearing aids by itself.

So if your hearing aids do not automatically reconnect to the last Auracast broadcast they used, then you would need to reconnect each time, even if no password is set. That part really needs to be addressed by the hearing aid manufacturer.

We’ve already seen some brands continue improving this kind of Auracast behavior through updates, e.g. Resound/Jabra. The Voyager HA’s main advantage is that it has a built-in battery, so it’s more travel-friendly.

Thanks for the explanation, but this isn’t the case for the FlooGoo FMA120/FMA121.

When the FMA121 is paired with hearing aids, it automatically reconnects to them in Auracast (broadcast) mode. There’s no need for a phone to select the broadcast or enter a password—the FMA121 handles that directly once paired.

@northbear For travel, the FMA121 can be powered directly by a phone—on a plane, your phone is right on the tray table, so it’s easy to connect via USB-C.

@Ranson I would plan to use the FMA121 for an audio tour. To stay mobile for photography, I want to power the device via a power bank rather than my phone.

Does the FMA121 draw enough power to keep a standard power bank active, or will I need one with a “trickle charge” or “low current” mode to prevent auto-shutdown? Any specific hardware recommendations would be great.

Yes—since the FMA121 draws very little current, you may need a power bank that supports low-current devices to keep it powered continuously (similar to choosing one for a camera).

For example, I’ve used the power bank below with a Fuji X100T. Cameras like this also need continuous power during travel and draw very little in standby, so the same idea applies here.

On this power bank, trickle mode can be activated by pressing and holding the button for 3 seconds.
