This is a branch from my thread about my Costco trials.
short of it: I'm trialing Sennheiser Sonite Rise but can't get enough high frequency, up against the feedback line...
Research pointed me to the Oticon (also Philips) aids as being able to provide more HF, better control of feedback.
I requested a print of the curve/report for both aids that I'm trialing, just so that I could maybe better understand if the Philips is getting closer to the target and by how much. Figgured I'd post them here for comment from you folks that are much smarter than me.
first one is the Philips 9050, fitted today. I think she called it a Bass dome...it's a with two little vent holes. After the fitting, when doing some fine-tuning, I was getting some feedback from the left so the left dome was swapped out for a little larger size, but instead of the two vent holes it has more of an open configuration with six vent holes equally spaced all around
the next was the one for my Sennheiser aids when I was initially fitted. It was using the easyguard power domes
Does any of this tell me anything useful?
My initial gut reaction is that they sound "better". The music on the car ride home seemed much more full. Not sure about the hard-to-understand speech situations yet. I'm still getting probably a little too much feedback on the left, and just a hint when I force it on the right. The Audiologist gave me some extra domes to play around with. Suggested that, if needed, go with a bigger size of the double-vented base dome on the left, and she said I could cut a little slit in the side of it, if needed. I reckon I'll give it a few days they are, before I consider doing that...
