Am I entitled to my audiogram?

I am in the UK and visited a local audiologist, working for a nationwide company, a couple of weeks ago, she did a hearing test and phoneme speech test, which was free of charge. I asked for my at the end, but she was a bit cagey about it and said I could take a screenshot with my phone, which I did.
Am I not right in thinking that I am entitled to have a copy of my audiogram? I thought that was the case, just like an eye prescription? Thanks.

Based on what I saw in other posts and what I read on the web, UK patients are entitled to a copy of their medical records, whether made by the NHS or private healthcare providers, except if there is a strong, justified suspicion that this may cause psychological distress to the patient (e.g. they are suicidal).

If your audiologist refuses, ask for a written statement of this so you can take it to your lawyer. That should do the job.

You can have all and any of your medical records you want. I mainly want the results to compare to previous years. They could not want to give it for many reasons. Not wanting you to buy at another company or online. If they’re insecure in there ability or practices that on them. Pictures are fine. But hard copies are the best.

Thanks. I mainly want to tweak them a bit. I have a Noahlink programming setup and my hearing has deteriorated slightly since the last test a couple of years ago. I did tell her that so it wasn’t like she thought I was going to another company.

If you pay for via hearing test, be it through insurance, out of pocket, medicare, etc., it yours everytime a test is done. The kicker is - Many times you have to ask for a copy since its not always handed out like candy.

I did a hearing test at Boots UK, they didn’t want to give me a copy, they said take a picture, but at Specsavers, they did gave me a copy.

Because they are private businesses, they aren’t obliged to give it to you.

NHS is another ball game, audiology department don’t even have the right equipment, forget about printer!!!

No, from what I read, private healthcare providers are covered by the same laws.

The relevant legislation is the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, and it is quite broad.
