Oticon Xceed SP was released on the market in August 2019. Does anyone know when the next generation or replacement model is expected?
Thank you in advance. Have a nice weekend!

That’s the million-dollar question. Phonak has also been sitting on its hands since the Paradise/ Lumity twins are also old in the tooth. Since Oticon and Phonak are really the only players in power hearing aids, you would think each company would be chomping at the bit to come out with new aids. Since there is a huge demand right now for new power (UP) hearing aids.

Not really.
The Resound Enzo IA and the Widex Allure were released last fall. Both are power hearing aids with , two-way streaming and ready.
The Naida Lumity SP was released winter 2024(two years old).
The Signia C&G IX BTE was released Fall 2025.
There are modern alternatives to the Xceed in the market right now.

BTE devices are currently ~8% of the market. It makes sense for companies to focus on the 80+% of the demand IMO.
are now more powerful than before (e.g. The Infinio with UP receivers can fit 105dB thresholds) so I would expect that some people that previously used BTEs are now migrating to RICs.
And yes, Oticon hasn’t announced anything new – it’s interesting that still sell the Xceed. There must be something magical about them

Yes, that makes sense. The market is probably much bigger for devices, so companies focus more on that segment. But for people with severe or profound hearing loss, power hearing aids are still very important. I’m also surprised that Oticon hasn’t released a new Xceed yet, since many audiologists still recommend it. Do you think RIC devices will completely replace power BTEs in the future, or there will always be a need for ultra power BTE hearing aids? To be honest, I don’t want to switch to another brand. I’m used to Oticon and I’m happy with it. I already have everything set up, including the programming software.

I think so — technology and manufacturing are progressing rapidly these days — who knows how long will that take .

As of now, battery size makes a big difference in how much power an aid has. People with severe to profound hearing loss are not into size 10, or 312 batteries. And the jury is still out if rechargeable batteries are worth their salt in power aids versus a 675 battery. Technology and manufacturing are progressing rapidly with smart glasses and smartphones. Not so with hearing aids or cochlear implants. Maybe that isn’t a fair comparison, but I can count on one hand the major advances over the last twenty years. In the last six years, there have been no major changes at all. Rather sad in my opinion.

Why even push towards power hearing aids? I had Oticon Vigo Pro RITE in 2008 and they were awful despite frequent replacement of (every few days). And with power hearing aids you really need power so you can’t afford earwax standing in the way… Did earwax management improve somehow?

Actually yes , phonak has recently introduced new domes called EasyGuards. Instead of having an opening next to the receiver , these domes feature a membrane on the domes that effectively prevents wax from entering the receiver.
EasyGuard™ Domes: Easier Hearing Aid Care & Protection9
EasyGuard™ domes protect hearing aid receivers from earwax while making cleaning easier, helping support consistent sound and everyday performance.

Not under the Xceed name, but a few months back Oticon released a of the Intent that has a switchable 85/105 receiver. The SP has a 110 receiver, but the Intent BTE could be a good fit.

It is going to be soon, either end of this year, or early. This is a NO brainer. They have also released a Lower price lines the Jetpx to replace the zircon probably. The have Own Si which is Sirius platform, also they just have Sirius - Verit on a battery based and also the Play SI. The only thing missing is the Xceed line. This is a NO BRAINER, its coming an it has to be end of this one early of 2027. That also signal , the beginning of their new top instruments which are already teased. Trainable instruments. That means Cocoha is coming at the prob end of this decade.

That means Cocoha is coming at the prob end of this decade.
The COCOHA (COgnitive COntrol of a Hearing Aid) project, an EU-funded initiative, developed a hearing aid system that uses real-time EEG brain signals to detect which speaker a user is focusing on in noisy environments. It automatically amplifies the target speaker while suppressing others, acting as a “brain-controlled” hearing aid, often using scalp or ear-EEG.
The EarEEG concept, is to pick up EEG signals from sensors on the surface of an ear-mould.
The following is taken from the CoCoHa website5
“The CoCoHa project focuses on using in-ear electrodes (EarEEG) to measure the eye-gaze in order to steer a hearing aid device. The front of the eyes is charged positively and the back of the eyes is charged negatively. Therefore when the eyes look to the left, the left side of the head becomes charged positively and the right side becomes negative. The measure of this difference of potentials is called electrooculography (EOG). The EOG signal is usually measured with electrodes placed around the eyes, but it is also possible to retrieve it using EarEEG devices. The goal is to use this signal, combined with a head-tracking system to determine the absolute gaze of a user and apply this information to a hearing aid.”

it si coming, there are even videos, this isn’t a new project. But it is not coming soon, what is coming is perfectly clear it is a way to train with voices of specific persons and use it to denoise, this is coming I would think mid 2027. The tricky part is where would that info be stored that would prob be using an external device or a smartphone. The amount of computational power required is massive so it will probably be a very power hungry instrument. My guess in order to make it small using a larger battery prob 675 they would use a manufacturing technique similar to Zeal.
