Hi,
I did ask for a return to hard acrylic but was refused, NHS said my hearing is so bad that the aid would be at the top of its volume so would likely whistle/give feedback, I did go to a private audiologist for a new, har acrylic mould, havine explained why I was there, re; NHS moulds, he promised the ones he made would not be noisy, when I recieved the moulds, I was in heaven after putting it in, no pain, no noise, but I live alone, I do not have many visitors so couldn’t judge conversation, it tuned out that I could not hear most of what was being said to me, looking at the private mould I noticed the tubing was much slimmer/smaller than the one I have, so guessed that was why I was unable to follow conversation, I shall contact the private audiologist soon. NHS moulds, I think they fit really well, maybe too well, they rub against the surface of the skin, hence the ‘cigarette burn’ comment, so, now I’m stuck in limbo between the NHS moulds, and the private one.
The private audiologist did put a block between my teeth, he assured me that would help with the fit, prevent feedback, this was after I told him that I was about to diet, and knew that dieting made a difference in the ear size, I felt what he did justified his statement.
Many thanks for responding.
