Any news on Costco using the NAL-NL3 fitting algorithm yet or when they might be? I’m interested to see how it handles Speech in Noise primarily.

The latest version of the Resound fitting software has it.
Since Jabras are rebadged Resounds and they use the same fitting software, I would imagine they would do the update sooner than later.

Thanks, so since I’ve got the Phillips 9050’s it appears I’ll have to hope Costco starts using it for all brands at some point, hopefully soon.

Some equipment is necessary to perform , such as that from the MedRx company. I don’t know what equipment Costco uses. I think it depends on the local Costco’s preference.

You don’t need to be fitted with NAL 3, not all software brands are offering it at the moment tho.

It’s not Costco that’s holding, it’s up to the manufacturers.

Meaning mfgrs? If so, is it something they’d add to their software?

SmartFit software doesn’t have the comfort in noise module yet for NAL-NL3. It is similar to for most people. Don’t think any other manufacturer besides Resound/Jabra have NAL-NL3 fitting formulas available.

But this is a limitation by ReSound, not National Acoustic Laboratories, in fact NAL3 was specifically formulated for this very reason, both new modules were developed for noisy environments.

Yes once it’s available to them they will most definitely add it to their respective software for the clinic’s to use.

Bruno_Marques: I think the common theme is that the NAL-NL2 curves more closely resemble the NL3 “comfort in noise” modules. The key features in your audiogram in the NL2 vs NL3 base program seem to be the following: Less gain and more compression (more separation from 80,65,50 dB inputs) at 125 kHz in NL3. This seems to be the case with everyone’s programming. A less concave curve on the left side of the rise in NL3. That is, a more linear, steeper rise in gain in the 500 to 1.5 kHz region…
Here is case report review. I my case, in MedRx simulator I got IIRC ~5 to the 2-6 kHz range. That is consistent with my correction after trying .

I just finished my 6mo trial with Costco Jabra Enhanced Pro 30s. Original fit was . The original fit was OK but I wanted ‘All-Around’ to use the functions that are available in ‘Hear in Noise’.
Ive been since the years I was Phonak KS10 and over the last few months I’ve become proficient on Resound. When NAL-NL3 popped in on a Resound update, I reset my Pro30’s and using the from the original fit I did a First fit using NL3.
The fit was almost perfect for my moderate to severe hearing. I still did a few tweaks but not even close to what I had to do building from the NL2 base. After a few days I reloaded back to the NL2 build. Didn’t like it. Next day back to NL3 were I am today.

I’m still trying to figure out the difference between 2 and 3. For me , the difference was minimal (less that 5dB) .

I switch my Jabra 30 to NAL NL3 two days ago .... I like it very much ... I think I understand my wife better and can watch tv without connecting to the streamer. So far I like it .

I use the in-situ for my audiograhm and NL3 with no changes except set the mpo from 3 to 8K down to the level that I have found that is comfortable for me
