Sonova's CEO announces that a new Phonak platform will be released this year (2026)

Well to be honest I don’t think so, but it’s not up to Costco, this is Sonova’s decision when they offer it, now we do have a little issue with the Sennheiser brand name, sonova has dumped them because it doesn’t fit in with their “sphere” so they gotta come up with something else or most likely just use “Phonak” as they’ve done in the past, trying to fool people with oddball brand names seems so.. yesterday

Oticon is way behind on replacements for the Xceeds. Their new aids with the 105 receivers aren’t powerful enough for those with severe profound hearing loss. I might get the Resound Enzo IA with Auracast Bluetooth for TV and public places. Phonak Naidas L-UP as everyday use. I doubt that AI and neutral networks will benefit those with severe profound hearing loss. Looking forward for smaller implants versions of cochlear implants.

Who is paying that, folks with four ears?

I’m also looking forward to HA - CI changes but unfortunately the changes come so slowly before you know it another another year or two or three goes by with no changes or very limited changes.

@Terost, @testing123, the main issue is power source. For now it’s impossible to make more energy dense battery than recent Li-ions. We will see what about solid state batteries in the future.

Another way is to make more energy efficient chips, but there is also a dilemma, because new sound processing and coding requires more power.

Much larger sound processors were used by even children meaning Nucleus Freedom or smaller Nucleus 6, so it’s generally not a problem at all.

My first digital hearing aids were the Resounds in the late 1990s. I paid $9k for a pair. Never again will l spend that much.

Correct. Never charge anything overnight. I always disconnect the charger when the device is 80-90% full like phones, tablets, battery packs. These rechargeable containers with hearing aids are safe.

Terost, I had not considered my rechargeable hearing aids as a fire hazard when plugged in overnight. So, I googled this subject! (Yes, lots of bad information can be found this way.) In any case, I could not find any information about any incidents of fires started by hearing aid rechargeable batteries.

From OP to now, exploding batteries. This topic has seriously gotten off track.
