STARKEY EDGE AI bte hearing aids -- ALERT FAILURE

Just took a nasty fall outside (while alone) and as I was lying on the ground getting my bearings, my Starkey Hearing1 EDGE said “Alert Failure, Alert Failure.” 😠 Yet sometimes when I am doing literally nothing active (i.e., sitting reading, working at the computer, applying makeup), they will suddenly misfire an alert that I have fallen. 🙄 Bizarre, and frankly it is very frustrating that neither my Audiologist or Starkey’s support team have been able to address this in any meaningful way. Great feature in theory, but when it needs to work, well … “alert failure.” 😕
Anyone else experiencing an issue with this feature?

NOT ASKING YOU TO TROUBLESHOOT THIS. Just asking if anyone else has experienced issues with this feature!

Before or after this recent fall, but I’m wondering why your Audiologist doesn’t turn this feature off if it’s not working as intended.

Well this is then a problem for your Audiologist and Starkey rep, are you not able to be offered another set to test to see if it’s the at fault.

Did you read my initial post? As I said, I have addressed the issue extensively with both Starkey and with my Audiologist. And no, the app settings have not resolved this issue.

I can’t say this with certainty, but I suspect that the Starkey App also needs to be running, at least in the background.

If you turn your phone off (real power down, not just sleep mode), and then turn it on again, the Starkey app won’t be running any more. You have to start the app at least once.

Again, I’m speculating, but if the want to send an alert and there is no app that’s listening, then it seems logical that you would get an error.

Of course, what makes you think I didn’t? Did you read mine, I did suggest you get another set to confirm what the issue actually is, or something else, not much point asking with evey little information, we don’t know what your Audiologist or the Starkey rep have tried, maybe you can tell us, then we could help “problem solve” it?

Uh? What’s the difference, are you wanting to know if others are having this issue then your fine with it, or if nobody else is experiencing it then you could ask your Audiologist to dig deeper? But all I’m saying is maybe just maybe the motion sensors are faulty or a bit to
sensitive in the .

Please don’t tell me what I can or can’t answer on the forum, you could try Reddit if all you want to do is argue, but whatever, we have a great bunch here who are more then able to solve most issues people are having (even when they don’t actually want it..)

I have had similar problem with the Omega’s .. Occasionally the aids issue the “Alert Failure “ notice for no apparent reason. Have not yet fallen to see if they issue the notice correctly upon an actual fall as they are supposed to do.

Interesting, thanks for sharing that. I’m getting the sense (from another forum where people posted helpful answers) that Starkey has a weakness on this fall alert feature. And P.S., I hope you don’t have to find out the “hard way” on whether the alert works after an actual fall! :slight_smile:
