Lucid Hearing Aids discontinued by Sam's leaves buyers with NO WARRANTY & NO SERVICING!

Sam’s Club is NO LONGER supporting Lucid hearing aids warranties! Sam’s Club will no longer provide any warranty work or repairs on Lucid hearing aids EVEN IF you still have months or years remaining on your warranty! Sam’s Club also will not provide for the Lucid hearing aids! The ONLY service Sam’s Club will perform on Lucid hearing aids is cleaning them! Sam’s Club has taken this action without any advance notice of their plans, and without offering any sort of compensation to those of us who are stuck with Lucid hearing aids having no way to maintain or repair them… even if you have any remaining warranty! This directly impacts every Sam’s Club customer who purchased Lucid Hearing Aids.

We were told by the Audiologist at Sam’s Club’s: (1) they are not getting any more wax guards in stock, (2) they no longer carry Lucid hearing aids, and (3) they will no longer honor the warranty.

Oh that’s outrageous if you brought them directly from them! They certainly cannot contract out of any warranty that was offered at the time of sale, but didn’t they give a reason, why are they doing this I wonder?
Are Hearing Lab Technologies, LLC not going to honour the warranty?

It is outrageous, and yes, we purchased them directly from Sam’s Club. Not honoring remaining warranties should never happen with reputable retailers. We have scoured the internet to find that will work with Lucids, but haven’t yet found a compatible match. The audiologist at Sam’s said the Lucid website is down. At this point, the best thing victims of this scam can do is report it to the FTC, their state’s Attorney General, and a class action law firm. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

How old is the purchase? You may be able to file a credit card charge back.

I see some information that Sam’s purchased the software and can still program the aids and that NationsBenefits which is taking over will honor the Lucid warranty. It seems it is an evolving situation.

Thank you for the info, but the transaction was late in 2023 (the warranty was to expire in October 2026). Most credit card companies do not allow a charge back past 12 months.

The people at Sam’s Club know that we have filed complaints with the FTC and our Attorney General, and they called to tell us that they would “make an exception in our case to try to locate and parts” in an attempt to keep us from filing complaints. They called at 6pm in the evening AFTER the complaints were filed earlier that day! We actually felt that we had to file complaints in order to protect others who also still have warranty periods remaining.

Whether or not the situation continues to evolve, we have to move on because hearing aids are a MUST! We’ve already purchased a different set, and I posted this information on this blog in order to help inform others. Thanks, again.

The hearing industry has been doing this for like.. forever! it’s true lots of them letting people down everywhere, cost of living crisis and now this stupid crazy crap going on in the middle east..some things just never change.

Thank you so much! Excellent article, and so very true. We have noticed an escalation with companies “pulling nonsense” on consumers since mid-2025. We literally have three (3) situations currently ongoing in which retailers and health insurance organizations are attempting to change the rules without any cause! So very wrong and so very frustrating for consumers.

Agree completely! They are not making friends with any consumers. Sam’s Club has lost our business entirely. It’s time people get serious and boycott bad business practices… it is the only way to force better customer service practices.

Thank you, again! The Guardian article asked readers to send them information about their recent experiences with businesses, so we did just that. I received a reply from a reporter who said she sees that there is some sort of legal action already in process against Walmart specifically related to the Lucid hearing aids. She said she would check it out and get back to me. We all know that cases like this will take years, but at least they may eventually be held accountable.

I saw a report recently about a class action lawsuit settlement. It sounded like huge money, but if the class divided the money evenly, it was less than $20 a head. And I bet part of that money goes to administration of the settlement distribution. “Here’s your $5, where you lost many times that!” I’m sure the lawyers made out, though.

I am in the Scouts lawsuit and the lawyers are taking 44% from me plus some expenses and it was 7 years before I have started to receive anything. Its a joke. You wold not belive all the things that are going on.

Sadly, Ronshere, that’s our current system of justice. Most lawsuits take way too long, and if they go class action, it takes even longer. The class action attorneys make a ton of money, while the victims get pennies. It is still very important for victims to take action and [hopefully] ensure the party causing harm to victims is penalized enough to stop cheating and harming customers/victims. The number of people receiving large settlements is very rare, but few people are aware of that fact. I don’t mean to sound flippant, but this IS our pitiful system of justice… sad, but absolutely necessary.

This is absolutely untrue. I used to work for Lucid Hearing and am currently working for Nations Benefits in a Sam’s Club. Sam’s Club is honoring ALL warranties. We just cannot send any hearing aids to be fixed because Lucid no longer fixes the aids. Cleanings, checks, and programming remain free as always. If you have a problem getting your warranty covered, you need to talk to your local Sam’s Club manager.

But, if the aids fail and you cannot send them to Lucid , how does the warranty work? Do you refund the money?

This isn’t a warranty service; it’s part of the bundled service the customer has paid for. A warranty covers repairs or replacement of faulty units during the warranty period.

And why, if Sam’s is honoring all warranties, do I need to escalate to the club manager? The only reason I’d escalate an issue is if the hearing center refused to honor the warranty.

NO! I have written EXACTLY what we were told by the audiologist at the local Sam’s Club. We filed complaints with our State A.G., and received a call recently from a rep with our State DOJ last week. They have reached out to Sam’s Club via email, and received NO RESPONSE! They were contacting us for an update, and of course, we have none. The DOJ rep said they would attempt to reach Sam’s Club again. Because of what we were told by Sam’s Club, my husband had to buy NEW hearing aids because he needed service, and they REFUSED to provide any service (except to clean them). We are FINISHED with Sam’s Club and Walmart! We’ve not renewed anything with either of those stores, and have no reason to shop at either in the future.

In our case, my husband purchased new hearing aids (even though his warranty is still in effect until October/November. Because of Sam’s Club refusing to do any repairs, or honor their warranty, he had no choice but to replace them. We have asked Sam’s Club to reimburse the cost of the new hearing aids, but they have declined to do so.

Unfortunately, most class actions provide very little remuneration to the victims, but are usually a windfall to the attorneys. In any event, the class action suits are sometimes to the only efficient and practical means of making bad actors (businesses) feel the impact of their illegal/unethical behavior. Throughout our lives, we have been a party to a number of class action suits. If I remember correctly, the least we’ve received was just a few cents above one dollar, and the most we’ve received was around $50. In these class action cases, the settlement has been in the millions… so the lawyers are the biggest winners! Overall, our system designed to protect consumers is seriously broken.

if your hearing aid needs to be fixed, we are pulling from existing stock or having another store ship it to us. This is for in warranty products. If it is out of warranty, there’s nothing we can do. We have to honor the warranty people before anyone else.

I know I have refunded the cost of the warranty if it has been purchased within a six month period. The store manager can approve this. That is a refund of $300-$800 depending on hearing aid model.

If the dispenser does not do this, I’d ask to speak to their manager.

Sam’s Club has also sent out an email burst to all members who purchased hearing aids explaining this whole situation. I do not work for Sam’s, so feel no responsibility to them, but they are making good on the warranty.
