Unitron Moxi V9-RT vs GE Resound Nexia NX960-S-DRWC?

I’m trying to help a retired friend who is not very good in English.

He has the possibility to, to a very low cost (subsidized), upgrade his Phonak Audéo P70-R to

  1. Unitron Moxi V9-RT

OR

  1. GN Resound Nexia NX960-S-DRWC

If we disregard that option 1. can receive hearing coil sound and option 2. is prepped for , which of the two is the better choice? Which one is better?

He is very social and participates in lots of activities, goes to restaurants etc and needs to hear what people say in these circumstances.

I know he also very much enjoys listening to audio books - streaming from his phone to his current Phonaks.

I know his hearing deficiency is age related. I know that he uses Power Domes. And I know he has a half modern I-phone - if that makes any difference.

(1) Only the Nexia has .

(2) Moxi v9 (brother of. the Lumity L90) boasts universal Bluetooth connectivity, similar to its predecessor, the P90 (the 70 is one level below). This means the Moxi can connect to any device that supports Bluetooth. With iPhones, the streaming quality is better with the Unitron/Phonak.

The sound profile is very similar (if not the same) between the Moxi and the Phonak. No learning curve when switching from the P70 to the V9.

They are both premium aids and one is not significantly better than the other. The best he/she can do is to try both and choose the preferred ones.

There are plenty of comments on this forum regarding the Phonak Lumitys/Moxy V and the Nexias/Jabra 20. I recommend you search for those reviews.

I have found “Resound Nexia” in “The HearAdvisor™ SoundGrade Leaderboard” (link below). With overall score (fitted). 3.9/5. Speech in noise only 0.4/5!!

Unitron i haven’t found at all in that comparison/guide/HearAdvisor. But perhaps there is a corresponding Phonak model to look at?

They are the same in all but name, just rebranded models, so as mentioned just research ReSound Nexia and Phonak Lumity, but there’s a bit of information for the Unitron Moxi on the interwebs, not much reviews tho.
