Need some advice on Oticaon Intent 1 and Phillips 9050

Did your More work better in the past? Have your More been checked to see whether a new receiver is needed? Or the programming tweaked?

My first aid was an Oticon OPN1 and now I wear the Oticon More. Part of my issue is that over time my hearing has gotten a bit worse and for what I paid for my Oticon’s I’ve always had problems with understanding speech when there’s competition. For example if I’m out somewhere I can be sitting at the table and I pick up the sounds around me but if someone I’m not focused on says something I may not be able to decern what they are saying completely or at all. Feels kind of odd to be tapped to get my attention so I can focus on that person but even then I may still have trouble understanding what’s being said as I may still be overwhelmed by the surrounding sounds. Some of the things that frustrate me will still frustrate me as no hearing aid will work well when someone says something two or three rooms away but what I’ve read so far says that the Phillips 9050 sold at Costco is manufactured by the same parent as Oticon. They are based on the Oticon Intent 1 but are supposed to be more focused on speech and less on surrounding sounds than if I got the Intent 1’s. If anyone has the same problems I’m having and has the 9050’s I’d appreciate your feedback

That brings me to my next question:
Based on what was said above;
$5000 for the intent vs $1600 for 9050. Is seems , based on the comments above, that the $1600 performs better in noise. Did I get this right ?

That seems to be the case from various sources. I know that some people don’t like AI but Gemini was quick to point out that the Odicon Intent, although superior to my Odicon More hearing aids the intent was not going to solve my problem and suggested that the 9050 was for a lot less money. It also said that Odicon is or has already intoduced two new models but with big price tags but unfortunately the parent to Odicon and Phillips will wait about 15 month before introducing compatible Phillips models at Costco and I really need to get into something newer and is more intune with my needs.and compared to what I paid for my Oticon More’s $1600 is a bargain.

The only new things in the Verit (new Oticon model ) are the disposable batteries AFAIK

Yes and no. While, from my experience - with my ears and mind, I actually prefer the Philips and certainly don’t see thousands of dollars of benefit from the Intent. A whole lot will depend on what you actually experience, and, especially, on the fitter or audiologist. I think, with regard to both (or either), I probably am leaving some things on the table. One of my friends, who went to a different audiologist than I did, really loves his Intents. The bottom line is that you just have to try them yourself.

My experience, for what it is worth. I liked the Philips 9050s but when I tried the Oticon Intents, I had this aha experience. Suddenly I didn’t have to work as hard to hear. I didn’t realize how hard I was working with the Philips. However, I did return both because they were not working well in noise. I certainly wouldn’t knock Costco. Wish they had worked for me.

Do you know which hearing aids are available at your Costco? Some really good choices besides the Phillips.

When I was trying the 9050s, I was really impressed with the preset My Music program. Much music in the General program sounds off and has a comb filter effect as the AI system fights itself and thinks music is a noise to be filtered out. The dedicated Music program takes all that extra processing out.
