Ha, have fun with that, I doubt it, for these kind of “requests” for improvement you’d be better off doing projects with target yourself.

Good luck getting your audiologist to do it. I believe my audiologist would attempt it. But we have an eight year partnership. But most won’t.

So I just take the tv connector as is with a volume control and a slider that goes from ambient to tv, because it was free. I mostly take my aids as is for the same reason, they are the only reason I deal with the because the price is right.

No you talk to your audiologist he can set the volume range. Now if he or she meets your specifications is a total different matter. But it can be adjusted within a range that the aids are designed for and the limitations are your hearing loss and the receivers you have in the aids. I have been with the 21 years. I have used a number of different clinics and audiologist and a number of different models and of aids. The key is explaining your needs the best possible and with total understanding the audiologist is over worked and is a human being just like you. I have worked with audiologist that are still training, just out of college with their degree and now my present audiologist is a professor of audiology. They all have different levels of experience. And veterans bring a different level of hearing issues to the table.

I bet mine would try. TV isn’t that big a deal for me (us) so it hasn’t come up. The few times I’ve hooked one of my connectors up to the tv it worked great. The ambient slider works great in the app, or use the buttons. Both work well and are intuitive for me now. (In connector mode, indeed streaming in general, the buttons change ambient mix, not volume.). Use either the volume slider in the app, or the tv volume control, as appropriate, for volume changes. If you have a connector with volume buttons, that can work, too, but I usually work around that to avoid getting up to go change it that way.

As an alternative, you can purchase a cheap Analog Digital Converter (DAC) and use it to control volume via it’s own remote. Connect the DAC to your TV via TOSLINK and connect the Phonak TV streamer to the DAC via analog. The quality is better, plus you get a mute button and true volume control. Set ambient balance via the toggle volume. It’s not everything that you want, but it may help.

I sent it in Via the medical message site. It’s going directly to the VA Puget Sound Audiology who are unusually quick to answer questions. I must honestly say i can get appointments quickly too. I have Tricare for Life so the VA doesn’t get any of my medical business, so the aids are my only dealings with them. I will keep you informed on the outcome.

@CaptainTrips; Thanks for the info but I have enough crap hanging from the back of my TV. If I can’t get r done with this, then it’ll do the best I can with what I got and make do.

I received answers to my messages to the Audiology early this morning and a call later to set up an appointment on Friday to make requested adjustment for use with the tv connector and for my hearing in general since it’s been 18 months since my first fitting. This is not your father’s VA, that’s for sure.
