Request for help for those who are used to programming CROS or know what to ask the audiologist

Hello everybody. I have the Phonak P90 and yesterday I started the test with the Phonak Paradise cross. At my request, because I have an event tomorrow, we left the schedule as it was and simply added the cross. It happens that this way I hear worse than without the cross, the sound is distorted and I have a lot of difficulty understanding. I tried to turn down the sound but it doesn’t work.
My audiologist is excellent and is always ready to help and listen to my suggestions but I have the idea that this is the first time she has put on a cross. Does anyone here have an idea of what I should order? Will it be necessary to do the programming from the beginning losing all the adjustments already made? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

You might get more response to your question if you change the title to English.

I’ve never been given that amount, but I manage to have a conversation without a device, as long as it’s close to the people I’m talking to. even if it’s more than one person talking to me I can keep the conversation going. As for the implant, in Portugal I think that in my case they don’t do it unless I pay for everything I can’t do.

I would think it would be difficult to change hearing from one hearing aid to a cross system and expect to hear well immediately. Seems like it would take you time to acclimate. Maybe it will get better.

From reading this forum the people who get a hearing aid cross system don’t always like them but I have no proof of this. Maybe @Neville could help with this. This member is a pro who has much experience with cross hearing aids.

This sounds like something I’d need to troubleshoot in the office. My recommendation to the OP would be to just take the off for their big event if it is making things worse, and go back to the audiologist to discuss the problems that they are having, being as specific as possible.

I run on the CROS output when I set things up, but in my experience the Phonak system seldom needs much adjustment for things to be transparent and balanced. I’d say about 70% of my patients who try the CROS these days like it, although it does take a bit of getting used to. If the buttons are just left at their default settings, turning the volume down on the CROS ear should reduce the sound on that side and increase the sound on the hearing aid side, whereas the toggle button on the hearing aid does overall volume.

But the main benefit for the CROS is that it gives better auditory access to the bad side so that you’re not craning your neck around all the time. The minor speech in noise benefit from two devices allowing for beam-forming is typically not sufficient to overcome the speech-in-noise deficit that results from relying on only one ear. For noisy situations and single-sided-hearing, individuals will usually get a better benefit from a remote mic system.

I’ve been wearing a Phonak with a Cros for 7 years. It has really helped me in many situations, like in a car or restaurant. I’ve liked not having to crane my neck or switch seats so the other person is on my good side.

I didn’t have trouble adjusting to my first set and the problems I’ve had with my newest ones (Audeo P90) has been because my hearing in my good ear has deteriorated. I think you just need it the Audi to take some time to work with you to get the settings right.
