I’ve got a visit to my audiologist next months to adjust my Jabra Pro 20s (Costco) and I’m looking to better understand what I can/should be asking for in this next round as I’ve been struggling to adjust to my recent case of SSHL (June) and am not sure what’s possible. I’ve had hearing aids for 13 years, had lifelong loss, and until the case of SSHL had similar hearing on both sides.
I’ve got a power dome on my left ear and a tulip on the right ear at the moment. I’m finding the left has too much feedback when the ear is close to solid surfaces, the right is clipping too often when things get loud (people clapping or kid yelling). I’m also finding background sounds (traffic, road noise) to be much louder than they used to be - the noise suppression program helps but is a bit too strong for regular use - I’m almost overwhelmed by it. I’m doing ok with speech in most cases - rooms with hard surfaces or bad acoustics are very tough but I’m managing ok in restaurants (75db).
I’m ok with the occlusion from the domes so I’m wondering if going to ear molds would help and what other adjustments I should be asking for from my audiologist - in the past the changes were pretty straightforward but this time I’m feeling a bit lost about what I can ask for and how much better they can make things for me.
Thanks,
