I am writing this post hoping that somehow it will reach someone who can help us.
My little sister has a Cochlear CI622 implant. Her sound processor gave her the ability to hear, learn to speak, communicate with our family, and experience the world around her.
She is still a child, and very soon she will be starting school.
We live in Belarus, where regular schools are unfortunately not well adapted for children with hearing loss. Even with her processor, school will be challenging: she needs to hear her teacher in a noisy classroom, understand speech, communicate with other children, and continue developing her hearing and speech.
Recently, something devastating happened to our family: she accidentally lost her sound processor.
The processor she had was already something our family could not afford on our own. We were able to get it only because of a charity fundraiser and the kindness of many people who helped us.
Now it is gone, and our whole family is heartbroken.
She is just a little girl. Children lose things. But when another child loses something, it may mean losing a toy or a phone. For my sister, losing this small device means losing the ability to hear.
So now I am looking for absolutely any possible way to help her hear again.
We are looking for:
Cochlear Nucleus 7 / CP1000
or
Cochlear Nucleus 8 / CP1110
Her internal implant is Cochlear CI622.
We are interested in used processors, especially processors that someone may still have after upgrading from Nucleus 7 to Nucleus 8.
The device does NOT have to be a complete kit.
If you have a working CP1000 or CP1110 processor, please contact me.
If you have a processor and a coil but no battery — please contact me.
If some components are missing, that is also okay. We will try to buy the missing battery, charger, magnet, coil or other components separately and assemble the complete system ourselves.
Even if you are not sure whether what you have can help us, please send me a photo and I will try to find out.
We are willing to buy a used device. Location is not the most important issue right now — Europe, USA, Canada or another country. If we find the right device, we will try to figure out shipping.
Maybe someone has an old Nucleus 7 sitting unused in a drawer after receiving a Nucleus 8. Maybe someone knows a family, clinic, charity or organization that has a spare processor. Maybe you know another place where I should ask.
Please tell me about any possibility.
I also want to apologize if my English sounds unusual. I do not speak English well, and I wrote my message in my own language and used ChatGPT to translate it into English.
I am simply an older sister trying every possible way I can think of to help my little sister hear again.
If you cannot help with a device, sharing this post in Cochlear implant communities or with someone who has upgraded their processor could help us enormously.
Thank you so much for reading.
