Phonak Eon Launched

It doesn’t sound like much of an upgrade from Infinio Sphere Ultra except in particular use cases. Phonak just iterated as Sphere was the dominant option while the other players had to try something to compete. The value here may be in the upgrades to the non-Sphere Costco version. On the other hand, Ultra owners can get more years out of that purchase without missing much. Maybe the more detailed reviews will reveal more.

Just discovered - there is the same ERA chip as in Infinio (2024) lineup. Phonak changed chip: from DEEPSONIC to Hypersonic.
I wonder how much powerful is that chip (or not more, just "only" more energy efficient with thw same power).

b) The rechargeable aids can charge without the need for a proprietary charger device. Think cellphones and other devices now days...can be charged with any USB-C cable and many with wireless charging....
This is impossible, given that USB-C connector is huge in relation to the .

ballpark of 30-35 hours at least. I reckon that should be enough for most folks to sort out a reasonable charging problem.
Should be enough time, as long as your next requirement is met, to make it possible to try another charger without having to keep a spare expensive proprietary charger in reserve:
The rechargeable aids can charge without the need for a proprietary charger device.
I'll add another thing:
d) The aids can be reset without putting them into a charger. I'm thinking of a little button that's flush with the case and can be pressed with a paper clip, like I've seen on some products.

I’m honestly disappointed with the news, I had high hopes there will be Naida line considering the last line was released 3 years ago.

yes, pretty much for USB-C...but who knows? The next USB standard might be small enough
or
do it with induction charging
Regardless, my point was that I won't happily swallow this pill they're forcing down our throats until such a thing is possible
anyway, that's another thread conversation...sorry for derailing this one...anyway, my bigger point was why is it such a big deal about making it smaller? I think that I'd rather have the bigger case to hold a bigger battery!

I'm not so sure that 30-ish hours would be enough to eliminate the need to buy a spare charger. Wouldn't it take a few days to get one?
And for resetting.... this is new to me. So putting them into a charger does more than just powering them off?

just as an interesting aside...
The dimensions of the new EON (both sphere & non-sphere) are given as 28.7 x 12.6 x 8.9mm whereas the Sennheiser Sonite Rise is 29.3 x 13 x 8.7mm which suggests a likely physical compatibility between the EON & the Sonite Rise charger. Electrical compatibility would be highly likely.

@x475aws, charger is not necessary for Infinio lineup, I suspect that is also for Eon.

While I'm not happy about this either, I understand Phonak's decision. There were many people complaining about size and Phonak simply want to make his market broader, so its reasonable from business standpoint. I'm not glad about that rushing "into the smallest", especially when I know (and saw) even small children with quite big sound processors from systems wearing it without complaints. And "huge" Infinio Sphere is still smaller even from the smallest today sound processors.

My charger is enough for charge my one piece (not pair) of Infinio Sphere for 5-6 times. One 100% charge of is enough for 30-40h, so roughly 2 days.
Tu sum up, one 100% of HA + 100% charge of charger gives me 2 + 10 to 12 = 12 to 14 days.
In addition, it should be taken into account that I always carry a power bank, mainly for my smartphone, but it fits perfectly into HA charger USB-C socket.

yes, the battery bank charge boxes are a huge step in the right direction. They offer great insurance against power failures and charging on the go
but all of that still depends on the thing being available and not getting broken, lost, damaged, etc....

If chargers were universal then maybe there would be competing brands and easier availability. True, not always next-day for everyone and everywhere.
But it would be less vexing to keep a spare charger if it was universal, because it would be cheaper and you wouldn't have to buy another spare each time you get new HA's.

WindBlock 2.0 is useful, I remember @WhiteHat and few another users that that was problem, especially during biking.
My worst issue with wind was with p90s while walking, particularly in winter. I bought the little socks (I forget the product name) that covers the mic openings which reduce the wind noise on the p90s quite well.
The infinios are much better. But not perfect. Wondering if I can wrangle a pair of eons out of the if they turn out to be all that and a bag of chips.

So. . . are we now also going to get auracast through the original spheres? When the app updates?
"Within the next twelve months" according to Matthew Allsop. I seem to be on a one man bandwagon here, but... are we really supposed to be happy about this? People bought " ready" hearing aids 2 years ago and are now being told that it could be another year before it's enabled. I'm miffed and I'm not even a Phonak customer.

I could see wireless charging like an AirPod case or my phone. Just drop them on a charging pad (for the dog to eat them, probably.)

According to Dr Cliff, Phonak are experiencing a lot of bugs trying to implement in the infinio products, hence the delays. I'd rather they not do a buggy release. It causes more problems than simply delaying until a stable build is released.

Interestingly Phonak has remained static when it comes to how much noise their can remove in Eon vs Infinio Ultra whilst Signia has gained on their lead over Phonak for speech in noise performance now that they've added processing onto their existing real-time conversation enhancement technology which was already performing better than Phonak's DNN. https://forum.hearingtracker.com/t/signia-max-signia-s-new-flagship-ai-powered-platform/134934/11

I have zero insight but have to think this is one of those under promise over deliver scenarios.

Well no one else is, Sonova are useless in this regard, trying to take the cheapest way forward (some kinda hybrid release) with their head in the sand by refusing to implement LEA with Auracast as it should be, it'll be good to see real world user experience on the new Signia platform as well, give them a run for their money.
