in my instance, my Head of ENT Department, at my general hospital, was absolutely useless, and I basically told him what I thought of him, he was ignorant and totally arrogant individual, I treated him with the contempt he deserved…
You ask me "to tone down my response"...huh? In any case, it's easy enough to get a second opinion and/or a new doctor. In your circumstances I would have done that.
I'm likewise here trying to help. I think suggesting that patients listen to their personal doctors and not advice given over the internet by people who've never met or seen them is helpful advice.Others advocate users do the opposite and listen to them instead. I suggest this is unhepful and possibly harmful..

For many people it isn't. You don't get to choose your doctor in a publicly-funded healthcare system. Anyway, I suggest you take your own advice and see an specialist who is also a trained audiologist to see what they think of the advice of your current ENT specialist.
Yeah @Hearing_Potential trying to see any Doctor is becoming practically impossible, because of the hoops you have to jump through, there is no continuity of service, you don’t even have a choice of Doctor in my local surgery, none are permanent, tis all locums, I haven’t had my own Doctor for 14 years… Unless it is extremely urgent, you’ll wait a week to 10 days for a surgery appointment with a Doctor, but that’s for a telephone appointment, so self medication is now the order of the day! Seeing an NHS Audiologist, you are looking at 3 to 6 months, an , you would need a referral, so probably 9 months to a year… So unless you are extremely patient, you go to a private Audiologist, or just suck it up… At one time, this was a wonderful NHS service, but it was cut to the bone! I could go to NHS Audiology any weekday afternoon and see an Audiologist without an appointment! I could phone my local surgery and see my own Doctor within an hour, in fact, I have actually seen him coming to my door, off his own bat, if he heard I was under the weather… Those days are long gone, consecutive conservative governments slashed NHS budgets until there was nothing left to slash! Nowadays we have a pittance of an NHS, they still do wonderful work for life threatening patients, like cancers, and cardiac problems, but run of the mill stuff is extremely low priority, especially so for their Audiology departments! We were spoiled rotten, and nowadays we are basically left to self diagnose… Cheers Kev 😉👍
