Do you mean searching within the thread/topic or across the site?

Need to think about that one! There's a lot of state management going on. Curious if you have been using the drafts page as this allows you to easily close and come back to a draft https://forum.hearingtracker.com/drafts

Yes a search across the site, at the moment one needs to tap the 3 bars to get that drop down menu, and no I haven't used the drafts page, as it's not something I'd use in that way, it's easier to just bounce between my open tabs to answer on the fly.

I do like the new forum. Great suggestions putting a search at the top of page in mobile. It took me a while to find the search.

Another thought. Updating your own profile requires going into your profile and then into manage profile, and then selecting which part you want to edit. It would be easier (?) if there was a edit button for each area instead of having to go into the manage profile first. I would think most people who go into their own profile are looking to edit it.

Totally agree about profile editing being somewhat hidden. I will add easier to find buttons!

Something I have noticed that is petty but the private messages always come up to the initial message. If there are a bunch you have to scroll down to find the last new last message.

How to use the search function would be a good starting place

It seems pretty standard to me. Where are people getting confused?
