My hearing aid is killing me! Very painful!

That might have been an over dramatic headline but for about a month now, my hearing aid has been causing me a lot of pain and is now even causing a scab inside my ear??!!

I had the same aid and ear mold for the past 2.5 years…i went in for a cleaning about a month ago and my audiologist changed the tubing…

Almost immediately my ear started to hurt and it has just gotten worse and worse as time goes on.

What could have caused this? Did my ear change over night?? The scabbing is developing around the top of the ear fold. Also, the back of my ear is feeling pinched.

I have worn a hearing aid for only 3 years and have never had any issues. Am i losing my mind?

I am a lawyer and i heavily rely on my hearing aid at work but it is getting so painful.

ANY INSIGHT WOULD BE SOOO MUCH APPREFCIATED

It is likely the audi cut the tube too short. Go get them to redo the tube at no charge and measure properly before they cut the tube.

Tube was cut too short and is pulling the mold up into your ear. If it hurts go back immediately to your audi, don’t wait a month.

agree with others but also do you clean your molds with alcohol swabs after or before each and every time you wear them? a lot of new users do not think they need to clean their aids which wrong. as a lot of the pain they experience is actually a bacterial infection.

THANKS for the post! I’ve been on this forum about 6 years and had for 4 or 5 years. It never occurred to me to clean my molds. The few times I go to the audi they do clean them up. Guess I’m luck never to have had problems as posted by the OP.

I always clean my molds. Plus i normally produce a lot of earwax so i need to remove from the mold.

I know this post is old but Im hoping people can see this still as I share my experience. Several years ago, I started having pain and scabbing inside both ears. It turned out that I had suddenly become allergic to my hospital-gtade silicone molds. After much trial and error, we finally found a solution. I rub a steroid oil on my molds before putting them in my ears.

Disregard if this doesnt sound like your issue but wanted to share anyway. I produce very little wax, i have never had to clean my molds. Theyre always clear (molds).
