Yes, the 5 questions from Genie 2 should have been the first thing to answer to personalize the settings based on your likings in the first place. I assumed that your audi already did that for you in the first place so that’s why I didn’t bring it up.
I’m surprised she didn’t have me answer those questions during my initial visit or at my follow up visit 3 weeks later. Although in all fairness I don’t think my answers would have been the same as they were today.
So it seems like in the beginning you thought you wanted clear crisp (sharp and distinct) sounds but in the end that amplified the chip bag effect too much for your liking. So in this case, it’s great to go back and readjust the personalized settings to change to soft and round like I assume was what you did.
Of course the chip bags weren’t the only times I would get that effect, but your assessment is pretty much spot on.
Beside the personalization settings, another more general way to adjust the tonality of the sound is in the Fittings->Fine Tuning ->Sound Controls and adjust the brightness perception toward Fuller in your case. I suspect that the personalization selection of soft and round sound will move this brightness perception scale toward Fuller for you already. You can play around with Genie 2 to confirm this if you want.
I had ‘Brightness perception’ set one click towards Fuller. It defaulted back to center after applying the personalization settings. So far it seems good at the default setting.
The settings in Accessories → Phone → General Perception - also went back to default settings. I reset Phone Loudness back to full ‘Louder’, and left Sound Quality and Power Bass at defaults. I had different custom settings for Right & Left aids before.
I experimented with the above settings and had several phone conversation tests with my wife. They verified that the default settings actually sounded the best. The jury is still out if listening to audio books is better or worse. I haven’t had time to listening to one for more than a couple of minutes today.
