For a phone, is a pretty low power draw, whether it’s classic or LE. For the hearing aids, it’s another matter. LE is called LE for a reason. LE was designed for devices like hearing aids.

My right side (the connected one) has run down to zero at 18 hours with perhaps an hour of streaming. The left at that point is sitting at 25% remaining. The right seems to take a precipitous drop as it gets past 30%, not a straight line decrease. I may have the Audi switch so the left is the connected one to evaluate whether there is a battery issue. That amount of battery life is marginal for me some days.

Very happy I cam across this site. New user of expensive blue tooth devices (hearing aids). I’m on my third week of Phonak Audeo M90-R. I’m finding switching between my phone and my laptop to be a bit cumbersome and frustrating. I think I’ve been spoiled by my apple airpods that swtiched easily between devices. I’ve learned that I need to have my phone “forget” my devices from within the Phonak Ap. I kept trying to do if from the “settings” icon on my I-phone where I would typically deal with blue tooth devices and could not successfully repair to my phone until I used the Phonak Ap. to forget them. I don’t have the tech know how to understand why its so cumbersome and it appears other manufacturers have figured this out.

I returned the Marvels for the reasons you describe. To say the bluetooth implementation is cumbersome is being generous.

The reason the battery drains on one of the before the other is because the communication between the HAs and the device (phone or whatever) is through one HA, which streams it to the other.

I realized I was only using the Remote app to check battery life. I also realized that I didn’t have the app on any of my other devices, so I just uninstalled it. If I want to unpair from my LG G6 and connect to my Windows 10 laptop I do that under the Bluetooth Settings. Even without having to mess with the app connecting with other devices is a pain that I choose not to deal with very often.
However, when connected to my phone–the primary device I use them with–they have worked quite nicely for me.

I don’t think that is the best model for multiple Bluetooth device use. I have the previous Phonak model (Costco version of the Audeo B90 model) and the Phonak Compilot 2 Bluetooth device. It connects to two phones at the same time, plus one other Bluetooth streaming device, like a tablet. I answer whichever phone rings and it stops the streaming until the call is finished. It really does work well for those of us who use multiple devices.
The hearing aid is the best I’ve tried, so no complaints with the whole setup.

You’re right. I gave up trying to pair my Phonak Marvels with more than one device, definitely they’re not made for this. I decided to pair them only with my phone and use the small, smart TV Connector device to stream audio from my TV, Stereo or Laptop. It’s way faster, smarter and better both in reach and audio quality than Bluetooth.

I appreciate the feedback as I’m trying to become familiar with my devices and their limitations. I have great faith in the adiologist I chose in selecting the best device for my situation. I’m sure the ability to remotely adjust the Phonak Audeo M-90’s weighed into his decision as I decided to travel to him and he is not local. That said I’m surprised at the difficulty I’ve experienced when switching from one device to another. I thought it just may be my lack of familiarity but yesterday I spent half an hour attempting to re-pair with my phone so I could listen to music when working out. I tried “forgetting” the devices from within the ap along with deleting them from the setting on my I-phone. It took multiple attempts before I was successful. I was at the point where I was going to delete the entire ap and reload it. I’m still not sure if its something I’m doing wrong or the blue tooth connectivity when switching devices is that quirky. I also noticed that even without trying to re-pair back to my phone that the ap is still functional without re-pairing for volume and program control but if i want to listen to music or (I assume use the phone) I have to go through all the steps of “forgetting” the devices and starting over. I can live with the extra steps as long as the steps are consistently the same. Like other posters I’m considering the dedicated smart TV connector just because I’d like that level of convenience if I want to switch among my phone to my lap top to my TV…

I agree with you except for quality. I have slightly less quality (but not significantly or anything worth complaining about) when streaming with bluetooth LE (the TV connector) as compared to direct connection to my phone via Bluetooth standard.

I have found the TV Connector to be outstanding. The quality difference (if any) is not noticeable for me. I do love the quality of streaming music directly from my iPhone via bluetooth when working out and the TV Connector is excellent with my laptop.

I have no problem connecting from an Android phone to iPhone or vice versa. I just turn off bluetooth in the phone.

Bluetooth LE supports higher data rates, so theoretically, it could provide better sound (depending on how the vendor implements it).

Maybe I’m wrong but I’ve been told by the Phonak specialist that TV connector uses a different frequency and streaming protocol, Airstream instead of Bluetooth. In fact, my phone doesn’t see it as a Bluetooth device. About quality I think it must depend of the audio source you’re using. It’s not the same to plug a digital output than an analogue 3,5mm mini-jack into the TV Connector. What I can tell you is that streaming Spotify music from my Samsung smart TV trough the TV Connector sounds to me appreciably better than from my phone’s Bluetooth.

If you consider how little space there is inside a hearing aid, it makes sense that “airstream” is just a proprietary bluetooth LE profile. The way to find out is to take a look in the manual for the hearing aids and the tv connector for the FCC id. You can use that number to look up the the documentation on what the FCC approved. If it’s bluetooth, you will see a bluetooth symbol beside the entry. I haven’t looked at Phonak products, but I did look at the Oticon Opn. It showed two frequencies, one bluetooth and another lower frequency which is presumably for the communication between .

So I thought id chime in again. To recap I got my new Phonak Audeo Marvels the beginning of April took them home and pared them up with my Phone. Mostly to listen to Music. Amazing sound! absolutely amazing. Then after I tried pairing them with my computer for music and gamin which again amazing sound.
fast forward the next day. I woke up and tried repairing them with my computer which then froze my computer. After restarting said computer i had a bluetooth error that i had never received before in my 25+ years of tech experience. I had to completely uninstall all traces of bluetooth and drivers from my PC and then restart.
Only then would my ’s pair with my computer after this and then from this point on no matter what device i paired with my HA’s audio sounded like SH%T, like tin can audio. the lowest possible quality audio you can think of during any pairing or even not paired just using them as regular HA’s.
I was convinced that these were somehow stuck in the low quality headset mode but my AUD thought otherwise and tried to provide some support to which my tech experience overruled any support she could provide. She insisted when i took them to her office to return for fixing that everything sounded fine and nothing seemed amiss. She also said that what i was explaining was impossible as there was no way for my HA’s to receive any type of information from my computer.
I honestly thought i was stupid at this point but convinced her to send them back. I just received them back today. Brand new HA’s with new serial numbers, Apparently they don’t know what i did to them and that i shouldn’t do it again. LOL
they gave me a card on how to pair my device to my phone and wrote i have new serial numbers and need to remove the old serial numbers from the devices i had previously paid with them.
I assume they mean unpair which i had already done.
Anyways I’m about to test them out, thought id share my experience and that i am honestly disappointed at my AUD now and most of my previous ones. Because they seem clueless on anything tech related. I honestly wish i had money and didn’t have to go though my state insurance so i could select whatever AUD i could.
If hearing aids being dispensed in pharmacies are the future as rumors suggest. I kinda don’t feel bad about my AUD’s business going downhill.

Anyone else experiencing random dropouts playing music using the Spotify app on a MacBook with a Phonak TV Connector?. Thought the cause might be it triggering due to sounds associated with any type other app notifications on my MacBook or iPhone . I’ve turned off all notifications sounds and turned off the bluetooth on my iPhone but im still experiencing issues. Its driving me crazy. Help!

Im using a xiaomi redmi note 5 and i was having the same issues with the phonak remote app connectivity. Streaming works great no problems. My simple fix was to go into app permissions for the phonak app and turn off “change bluetooth connectivity”. Now it connects almost every time. if it doesn’t stop the app and restart it. I love the phonak Marvel M90R. I wish the remote app had a few more tweek options to it. Now that i solved my BT connectivity issue I may have my Aud put in a few more programs for me.
