I think it might be a good idea to fully explain the mechanics of how being paired to multiple devices works.
The first device you will pair to will be your phone.
For many people (my wife included) that’s all they need or want.
I have an Android phone and Microsoft Windows 10 Pro computers.
To initially pair with an Android Phone
- Swipe down to display notifications
- Tap and hold on the Bluetooth icon
- Choose “Pair new device”
- Prepare Marvels to pair by turning OFF and then ON.
(this puts the Marvels in pairing mode for two minutes)
- When “R-Phonak hearing aid” appears in the list, tap on it and it is connected and active.
To pair with a second device (for me a Windows 10 computer)
You must first disconnect your phone from Bluetooth
- Swipe down to display notifications
- Tap on the gear icon opposite “R-Phonak hearing aid”
- Choose “Disconnect”
(The Marvels are now not connected to any Bluetooth device.)
Now pair the Marvels to a new device (for me a Windows computer)
- Click on the Windows Start icon
- Click on Settings
- Choose Devices then “Add Bluetooth or other device”
- Choose “Bluetooth” and the computer will now search for your Marvels.
- Turn your Marvels OFF and then ON again putting them in pairing mode
- “R-Phonak hearing aid” will appear in the list, click on it. You are now both “paired” and “connected”.
Now you are paired with two devices. To connect back to your phone
- Go to Bluetooth on your computer, click on “R-Phonak hearing aid” and choose “disconnect”
- Go to Bluetooth on your phone, click on “R-Phonak hearing aid” and then “connect”
Remember, you must do the “disconnect” and “connect” because you can only be connected to one device at a time with Bluetooth Classic.
To pair with a third device you first must “disconnect” from the current connection and then follow the procedure for adding a new device.
I followed this procedure to pair to my 3rd and 4th computers.
To change from device to device (even the phone) you must first “disconnect” from the current connected device and then “connect” with the desired device.
By now you should understand the difference between “pairing” and “connecting”. Once a device is paired you don’t need to pair it again. At this point all you will be doing is connecting and disconnecting paired devices!
I keep my Bluetooth icon available in my lower right hand tray on my Windows computers where it is readily available.
Once you get the hang of the procedure, you can change from device to device in 10 to 20 seconds.
