Phonak introduces Paradise, a new paradigm in hearing aid sound quality

They’ll be a wide range of prices depending on where purchased. I’d guess P70 ranging in price from $3500 to $5000 and P90 from $4000 to $7000. They’re basically going to sell for what other high end hearing aids sell for. Prices vary a lot.

The Dollar is down in value a bit this year. $7000 is now €5900. And less than £5300.
Which is still a ridiculous price for a pair of hearing aids.

I’ve had my marvel 70’s for almost two years with no complaints.
My primary expectations for hearing aids is to improve my hearing. Bluetooth streaming music or TV are bonuses.
The paradise have some cool features. But nothing about the Paradise models inspires me to consider an upgrade.

Honestly, the Marvels are almost the same at the Paradise so why throw money to the wind, when the Paradise really doesn’t offer anything more than what Marvels do. Oh, I forgot I can tap the Paradise and it will reset or shut off. Gee - that’s worth at least $3000 plus.
Think not.

I must be missing something. It seems that the Paradise has new hardware technology, the Prisim. The software that provides the bells and whistles everyone seems to talk about with regards to Marvel vs Paradise have limitations imposed on them by the hardware they run on.

I’ve been thinking that the move is to go to rechargeable only - eventually. I don’t think I’m a fan of rechargeable ones, but Paradise features on them is what I’m looking for.

@revans2060 Whoa, you’ll then be like a kid in a candy shop! Good luck and have fun!
Yes, there’s a bunch of tech thingies and naming, and phonak is especially bad at naming things ![]()
@hearingaiduser2020
I wouldn’t say that there is some fixed time period that has to pass, just that to me, changing stuff I’m happy with with new after a few months doesn’t seem necessary, especially when new doesn’t come with insanely more features.
However, if you’re not happy with x, and you find new ones that make you happy and can afford it, I’d say go for it.
You’re lucky to have warranty for that long, here in Germany is one to two years, depending if your fitter is a member of some organisation that got better deal, mine is.
HA themselves aren’t that expensive, like if you completely destroy them, new ones are in the 200 eur ballpark. But, you need to provide all parts for such replacement ![]()
Basically I asked to see if taking insurance makes sense to me. It doesn’t. Especially because after a 2-3 years I believe I’d find them on ebay for lower price than what I’d have to pay to the insurance.
Regarding features, I haven’t noticed any difference. I rely on phonak.com for information, use target programming sw in English but region Germany and I never noticed any discrepancy.
One thing what Germany doesn’t have is that you can’t buy roger pen 1.1 iN version here because ‘market is too small’. That’s only difference so far that I’m aware off.

I agree, under the conditions that you have marvels and are happy with them. Which most people are. I definitely don’t think anyone should feel regret if they bought marvels recently and are happy with them. From the specs, I’d say paradises bring just a bit more convenience. Which is cool, but not worth the upgrade unless you’re seriously frustrated with something with marvels what paradises solve.

It does have new chip, but nothing from the specs sound that insanely revolutionary to me in comparison to marvels. ![]()
I believe they will use more of that chip’s power in the generation after paradises. Eg that now they were working on new chip and supporting known features, and then in next gen they’ll focus on extracting more from the chip itself. If they’d do both at once, I believe we wouldn’t see new for a few more years, and their marketing and finance department wouldn’t be happy ![]()
Difference so far from the specs is that new chip replaces two old ones - sword and /roger one.
Oh and the result of ‘more memory’ gave us 4 custom programs instead of 3 with marvels. Lack of memory was quoted as a reason why we got only 3 slots for custom programs for marvels.
If that new chip is a beast, they definitely haven’t released it yet.
Plus if customers report something wrong, it’s less expensive to recall on 3 year mark than on 6 year mark (if they’d need that much time to release both new chip and extravagant features).

Thank you for your feedback and time. The insurance is part of the cost. It doesn’t make them any cheeper where I get them if you opt out. That is why I said six years. Otherwise I waste the Warentee and why do that if your happy with them. As I keep my hearing aids for a long time it is nice to have that ability to get them repaired or replaced during the first six years should the need arise. My last set was from 10 years ago. Couldn’t find the parts anymore. Again thank you for your response and have a great day.

Do the Paradise’s have improved input headroom?
The terminology you’re looking for is input dynamic range. I don’t see this addressed anywhere in their available literature.

Does anybody know the dynamic range of the Marvels? Thinking about it, one of our forum members using them with live piano so I’d think they’re dynamic range would be adequate for live music.

Agreed, and he is not the only one that I have read about that enjoys live music with the Marvel aids.
It’s all about the tuning. Oticon, Resound, Widex, Phonak, Starkey, Rexton etc. there are so many ways to address tuning any modern hearing aid today. About the time you think you have it figured out, change the fitting algorithm and start over. The ways to adjust modern hearing aids is just about endless.

Certainly a possibility. I know less than nothing about marketing . Although for marketing in general, I think a general rule is: consumers are a commodity to be taken advantage of ![]()

I actually like the Phonak sound for speech but lack of input headroom is a deal killer for a musician like me.
I had the same issue, even with high bitrate audio files.
I read somewhere, but can’t remember where, that Phonak Marvel input dynamic range is up to 99 . A loud band might measure 100 dB on a sound level meter, yet have peaks reaching 130 dB SPL or higher.
I returned the Marvels and am happily listening to music with Oticon OPN S miniRites!

ultimately it is the new motion sensor in the hearing aid that detects the “tapping”. So wherever you tap, that motion must be transmitted to the body of the HI… it works really well

LE apparently isn’t designated to do streaming of phone calling, at most it can do streaming music, but only Apple has it technology…
