Would love to see how my Naida V90 SP compares.

So there are four additional programs with theew Paradise Naida that can be selected by user. Anyone have suggestions on which programs are the best to choose? It seems there’s a lot of redundancy with background noise in various programs. There is speech in loud noise, speech in voice, comfort in noise, calm situation, speech in 360, speech in noise, calm situation, etc.
So can anyone rank programs as far as performance? Also is a t-coil feature standard with aid and not one of the additional programs? I always struggled with background noise so I’ll probably pick two or three programs that (attempt) to deal with that but I don’t want duplication if “speech in loud noise” is the same thing as “speech in noise”. So confusing Hopefully there are some Phonak Paradise users here who can separate the good programs from the not so good programs.
Also - what is “custom program” which pops up as an additional program? Does this feature allow someone to adjust setting on there phone with Phonak app?

No they are not. I’m not exactly sure of the difference but Speech in Loud Noise only works if you use QuickSync and Speech in Noise works without QuickSync.
I hate Speech in Loud Noise myself.

I wouldn’t suggest adding programs unless you need to. There shouldn’t be any need to add a noise or loud noise program (assuming you’ve got 90 level) as they’re part of autosense. If they’re not enough, they can be adjusted. Both the noise reduction and what level it considers “noise” can be adjusted. Just let your audiologist know what situations you have problems with.

Ive had a set of Phonak Paradise for a couple of weeks now and I really do like them. The streaming to PC, MacBook and iMac is pretty good. The noise reduction technology is also good compared to my old Dynamo SP8’s. What I don’t like is that voices sound electronic! The more I raise my own voice the harcher it becomes. I have the titanium mould which are very comfy. The mobile app is not great and can be slow and the auto sense can get it wrong so times. I’m now looking for the Target Software so I can make a few adjustments for myself so if anyone know where I can find it could you please let me know

Hi Terry,
Ebay is a good source. You should be able to get a CD for around £30 - £40. The ones I’ve seen recently ship from the U.S.A. But you will need the Noahlink Wireless programmer as well - this will cost £100 - £150.

Hi glucas,
Ive had a look around eBay and people seem to be selling a link so I’m not to sure I’d trust that! I’ve been reading around and many say the Noahlink is not needed so I’m a little confused!.
How did you get your to show on your profile? I’ve just seem yours and its very much like mine.

Hi Terry,
I ordered from Ebay and my stuff arrived ok. I just searched for a Target/Programmer combination - and came up with this:
This looks fine to me. You definitely need the Noahlink - I don’t understand how you would be able to program it otherwise. That’s very odd. Perhaps with just cables.
You can search on this forum to see how you can put up your . I think you just click on your icon/profile and there should be a menu option in there somewhere - let me check.

Ok - just found this:
This site has a way to put in ( enter upload ) your and not just uploading an image.
Click your icon in the upper right
Click on the little preferences gear icon in the upper right.
Click on Expand in the upper right.
Click on Hearing Tracker Profile in the upper middle-ish area.
Click on Add My Audiogram below the chart.
Here you can double click to place.
Be sure to choose right or left ear in the lower right to move or place an o or x.
The minimum required is .5, 1, 2 and 4 KHz.
Blue = X = left
Red = O = right
For these purposes you only need to find the x’s and o’s.
Moving and placing the x’s and o’s around can be a little finicky so if you’d prefer, click on Manual Entry on the left side.

Thank you TerryUK, twas around that price, I paid £2460 to be exact, for the Phonak Paradise Naida 90’s UP 675 from Boots Hearing Care, I got them fitted today and so far so good, they have a fair bit more ooomph than the Phonak Paradise 90’s UP 13, and are much more suited to my loss. Boots kindly gave me the same 15% discount I had for the Paradise 90’s, which I returned (prior to the end of the 60 days trial) to swop them out for the Naida P
they appear to be much clearer and louder, and at the fitting session I was able to hold a fairly good conversation with my audiologist whom was masked up, which is for me near impossible with my Marvels 90’s UP RIC’s, as lip reading is usually a fundamental for me, it was much more clearer than the Paradise P’s, okay it was in a sound proof booth and in ideal acoustic listening conditions, the Audi even stood behind me to ascertain and I could still follow her and apart from the odd word, all was good
Such is my loss, I am always going to miss the odd word and I can live with that, when I was fitted (a few weeks ago) with the Paradise 90’s UP 13’s, I reiterate, I could follow most of the conversation with my masked Audi, but this was much clearer and ultimately louder with the Naida P and this time I got nearly all of the conversation… Anybody in the UK whom might be planning Naida Paradise UP BTE 675 from Boots Hearing Care in the near future, might want to think about it sooner rather than later, as I am unsure how long they might be discounting 15% off these aids? Although Specsavers appear to be giving the same if not slightly less discount
Cheers Kev.

How would you rate the size of them? Are they smaller and lighter as claimed? I have always worn SP aids but the modern technology doesn’t seem to have the oomph I have gotten in the past. The UP aids give me better speech comprehension, but the size gives me pause.

Hi Smile44, from left to right; Naida P, Naida V and Marvel UP … Tis perhaps the 14% smaller they say, and it is most certainly the 27% lighter, it feels okay and is not uncomfortably large like other versions of Naida, it is certainly slightly slimmer… It is a big aid though in comparison to the Marvels, but it does have the new double receivers, , all new PRSM processor, and 675 batteries… I live about 25 miles away from my Audiologist in Inverness, so on the drive up I stuck on the local MFR radio station with my Marvels I will usually struggle badly, but I wanted to compare the Naida’s P’s on the way back, so I persisted and listened away… Twas literally night and day, Naida’s cut out almost all the road noise and I could follow most of the speech and the music sounded almost very pleasant… For a change

I really appreciate you taking the time to show the size differences! I don’t upgrade often, so doing my best to make sure I make the right decision for me. I’ve worn oticon aids for the last 20 years, but the Paradise aids so far sound more natural to me. Hoping the UP is the answer. The rechargeable ones are really nice but aren’t quite loud enough for me.

You are welcome Smile44, yeah the Naida P Power Aid, would not be of any use to me, nor would they be anywhere near loud enough, I wear glasses, and this would most likely be constantly irritated by the double tap feature in the motion sensor… I also have a strong aversion to rechargeable aids after a couple of bad experiences with Marvel rechargeable’s… Good luck in your choice, cheers Kev

No they are not. I’m not exactly sure of the difference but Speech in Loud Noise only works if you use QuickSync and Speech in Noise works without QuickSync.
What do you mean by quicksync, I can’t remember if I ever saw that term anywhere?
@ron137
Speech in loud noise needs two aids, and utilises stereozoom.
If you have just one aid, it’s IMO useless. As you can’t get the stereozoom feature.
However, it really is great with 2 aids, to the point that that was one of my reasons for getting 2 aids.
Amount of noise reduction you can get with it is really superior to ordinary version.
Speech in noise has option to change mic directionality. In loud noise has only stereozoom. That means use all 4 mics and focus on the thing in front of you while remove all noise you can from all around you.
Which programs to choose, I’d go with the same recommendation - those you need. In other words, work with your autosense, and your fitter. And if the daily issues/needs you have cannot be covered with autosense and tweaking there, then you’ll both know it’s time for a new program.
Custom programs are only in the phone app, and currently main purpose is to help yourself in some situations between two visits to your fitter, and sharing the findings and them using this info to tweak main programs more. After every fitting those custom programs are vanished.
Ebay is a good source. You should be able to get a CD for around £30 - £40
Or you go to subforum here and get it for free. Sw doesn’t cost a thing anyway. It’s just that it isn’t publicly available.

Yeah Zebras, Tis slimmer and noticeably lighter and feels fairly comfortable even with glasses on! As I become more accustomed to these Naida’s, I am rapidly warming to them
although as yet I haven’t been in many truly challenging situations, I am probably subconsciously assessing them all the time, for instance last night I could hear the clock ticking away from approximately 10 feet away, but what was kind of surreal was listening to my wife’s TV program in the next room and basically following it, I was obviously missing the odd word, but I was getting the gist of it
One thing I am very impressed with is these Starkey moulds, they really hug your ears, and feel so comfortable, no feedback issues unless I cup my actual aids with my hands. Cheers Kev.
