Phonak App only works when open

I’m a new user, typical high frequency loss, and have been wearing Phonak Paradise 90 for a month. They work well, no complaints.

I have paired the ’s with a Xiaomi Redmi 9 T android phone, and it works well for calls and music or video sound.

I have paired with the app and played around, with a saved custom profile . It works fine with the app open and on the front screen.

However as soon as I open another app, it loses pairing and defaults to Autosense. It does not appear to be able to work in background, and maintain my custom profile.

I would be interested in other users experience.

If you are using IPhone then go into settings and set Background App refresh to on. It should help.

I have same and am not sure the auto works when I open another be app
If I go back to it I need to relink. Android phone.

I have the same experience with my Samsung S10+. It makes the programs useless. Have you tried calling Phonak technical support? I have not, but guess I should.

This is a known issue with the MyPhonak app.
Sorry, but you’ll have to wait until they release the next update, which hopefully corrects this unwanted “Feature”
If you do a search on this topic, you’ll find a bunch of unhappy campers.

This is a common problem. Phonak we’re going to release an update to the App called v5.0 but they have withdrawn that release date. Not sure if they will release it now.

Current program is next to useless. Mine seems to be taking longer and longer to connect.

I have the same problem with my Samsung galaxy. Called phonak support and she said to go to settings, sound notifications, system sounds, and turn off notifications. It is the sounds that shut off the phonak app. It is working better and stays on most of the time.

Many Thanks, that is helpful. I’ll try that out on my phone while waiting for Phonak to upgrade the App for Android.

The Redmi Note phone is slightly different, and has no equivalent setting. I tried Silent Mode which turns off both calls and notifications, but no improvement. I will just have to wait until Phonak upgrade their app to work fully on Android.

I’m not seeing a way to turn off system sound notifications at this location on my Galaxy Note10 running Android 11 and One UI 3.1. Can anyone tell me where I might find it?

I’m wondering if this might help with the problem that’s been driving me crazy every since I got my Marvel hearing aids. If I’m watching TV using the Phonak adapter, every time I get a sound notification the TV sound cuts out and I lose dialog, so I have to go back watch the missing portion again. I did call Phonak once or twice about this and they were no help.

Have you tried turning Do Not Disturb on? You can also go to Settings -> Sound and change the default notification sound to “none”. And for any specific apps, you should be able turn notifications off entirely for them.
