Just updated Enhance Pro software on my rooted Android phone. Application states my phone is "jailbroken" and the app will not open

Hello-
I just updated my Jabra Enhance Pro software on my rooted Android phone. are Enhance Pro 30s. The software goes to start-up screen then shows, “This device is jailbroken. For security reasons, our app cannot be used on jailbroken devices…”
Does any one have a version of the software from before today’s update (APK file) that they could email me so I don’t have to carry a second Android device around to adjust my HAs? Thanks in advance.

Wow never heard of such a thing, like jailbroken is a Apple thing, anyway is it possible to get a screenshot of this message?

You haven’t tried yourself, just uninstall the App and then google Jabra App APK, easy as.

My cable TV app (Spectrum) refuses to run if I have USB debugging enabled on my Android phone.

Not sure exactly what jailbroken means, if you also have USB debugging enabled you could try disabling it.

If you’ve rooted the phone and installed a modified OS that’s a bit harder to undo…

Have you tried any of the “root hiding apps”? Google that phrase to see if (a) you trust them and (b) they would solve the problem.

Poor management, not poor programming. They outsourced development of the app, unless something changed recently. Not that I think outsourcing is a bad choice or anything like that.

That is a likely explanation. GN staff in Bloomington are going to lodge a complaint with Resound about it. I’ll likely transfer to a different brand of when these wear out if they do not fix it. Too bad as I really like the Resound devices.

I could swear an earlier version showed the copyright belonged to someone other than GN ReSound. That was back in early 2023. I looked then because I was unhappy with the app on Android. Now it looks like GN ReSound claims the copyright.

Still, some managers approved the specs and the product. I remain comfortable thinking management is more responsible than the programmers. If you think about it, it’s always a management problem.

The term “Jailbroken” is used for any device that is sold as a combination (the “jail”, e.g. Apple’s “walled garden”) of hardware and software and is then “flashed” with alternative software: Not just iOS devices but also Android devices, Kindles and other e-readers, or Sat boxes (Enigma for Dreamboxes). So that applies to an iMac, but not to a PC running a Linux distribution, for instance.
There are excellent reasons for doing this, as community-written software is very often superior than the afterthought manufacturers put on their devices. When well-written, the replacement is typically fully compatible with addons and (sideloaded) apps.

Producing an app that refuses to even run on an OS that is not expected is just an extremely lazy way to avoid any incompatibilities.
