Looking into both the Roger On-in and the Phonak TV connector with my new Paradise aids. But am I to understand that if I had the Roger On in, I really do not need the tv connector, as it can do all of that also. (same sound/streaming capabilities)?
In my opinion the Roger On iN does the same as a TV Connector as the On docking station even has a volume control so you won’t make the TV too loud for hearing people.
Agreed. Especially with the difficulty of obtaining TV Connect. I’d still be inclined to get a TV Connect. Somehow I suggest having a Roger On plugged in all the time would be hard on the battery.
My audiologist said that they got some in and she ordered me one (TV streamer). I wasn’t expecting it until spring. She did say the ActiveVent receiver may not be available for order until the May update to the contracts.
As for the Roger mic, I got the impression there was a charging doc which also could be hooked up to the TV. Is that not the case?
OK my roger ON from the showed up today, connected to my P90-RT aids easily and seems to function as described. I can’t seem to figure out how to attach the lanyard, though I’m not sure I’ll ever use it - especially because I can’t figure out how to attach it , Works well pointing at my wife in the next room, and works well plugged into my laptop. Seems a trifle sensitive when handling it. I really wish the myRogerMic app had a volume control slider, though.
Did not have to “install” receivers, or do anything special. Just turned on, pressed the connect button and held near one of my aids.
For anyone with the ON iN - is it actually labeled “iN” anywhere? mine just says ON, and shows as Roger ON in the apps and bluetooth settings.
Interesting. So the Roger On was shipped directly to you? I wonder if the hearing aids come with receivers installed. Would certainly make things simpler for them.
My audiologist said “I think you can figure it out.” But I’ve been teaching her things about new VA stuff like this microphone. She hadn’t heard of it or the activevent until I mentioned them to her. I took it as a complement.
The TV streamer and the Roger On came today via UPS. My wife brought them in at 4:30 while I was still working. By 6:30 they were both set up. Haven’t tried the roger in noise yet, but it is great at playing my ipod into my without head phones on. I’ll see if I can use it for a zoom tonight for the sportsmen’s club meeting without using the phone for the audio. I’m excited.
From what I understand, there is limited availability. If you have a hearing aid professional who deals with Phonak, I’d inquire about ordering one. I’ve seen them on EBay for like $2 grand for an iN version. That’s a lot of money for what will likely become an item with minimal guarantee.
That sort of what I’m thinking. The price seem very high and it is set that way now due to it being new and lack of supply. May be worth waiting a little bit?
If you want it new and with a full factory warranty, I think prices will remain high. If you’re willing to take a chance on what may be a grey market item, yes, I think prices will come down.
Put mine on the dining room table tonight. Covered conversation across the dining room and kitchen pretty well. A little more dish and or other misc clatter noise than I’d prefer. But conversation was rock solid. Very impressed.
