I was at a conference last week and ate with the team in noisy restaurants in the evenings. Of the conversations around me I could often hear virtually nothing. I suffer from high frequency loss starting at around 2kHz and with virtually nothing left at 5kHz. I wear NHS-issue Oticon aids with domes.
I’ve always been intrigued by the Roger Pen, which looks like it’d help me but it’s expensive. However, they seem to appear from time to time on eBay at a more reasonable price. The MyLink that optionally goes with it seems to be a conventional neckloop, so I presume it’d work with my Oticon ’s. Is that correct, or is here some hidden gotcha? And is the microphone in the pen sufficiently directional to cut out much of the ambient noise? And finally, is the rechargeable battery replaceable by someone with a good level of electronic fixing skills?
