Bathtub Curve: Widex Moment 440 RIC10 or Resound One 9 M&RIE

Hi,

after 40 years without hearing aids i urgently need new devices. I wore analogue hearing aids as a child, but not anymore.

7 years ago I had already tried Unitron, Signia and Widex.

I love the widex sound but on the tiny Moment 440 10 device I can’t use noahlink wireless to set up the device myself.

I can get a Resound One 9 M& for the same money, which I can set up with Noahlink.

Does it sound similarly smooth and beautiful as Widex or should I rather let it be?

The Widex RIC10 is on sale, that´s why i´m interested in it…

Widex Pro oder USB Link is hard to get in Europe, I can’t buy it anywhere.

Is it worth buying Widex because of the beautiful sound? Or can I also buy Resound One 9, Phonak L90 or Signia 7AX?

  • Maybe I should have said there are other models that can use Noahlink Wireless.
  • The “Widex sound” would fall under the category of “personal preference”??
  • Do you get free trials over there? You could trial each one. Though, be careful what your trial contract says if you lose one.

I’ve used both ReSound and Widex (Evoke )and I can say they are both good, I use ReSound One as a daily driver (amongst many others) it’s seems better to stick with what you can with, so the next size Moment with 312 battery would be an option.
Be careful with those M& receivers, not everyone likes them and I didn’t, I swapped mine over to the standard receiver for better overall outcome in my situation, they are also limited in the power output,so you need to check that as well.

Widex doesn’t sound typically like a hearing aid, but more like a good set of headphones. I like this very much.

In Germany you can try different hearing aids for free for a long time, but when you buy them, the prices are very, very high.

Alternatively, you can buy them directly online for less than half the price and you can return them within a month and get the money back. You can’t adjust them well in this short time…

So try it out for a long time and pay very dearly or decide quickly and fit yourself, that is the question.

I don’t want to decide against Widex and then find that the others sound worse.

At the moment the Widex 440 RIC10 are on online sale for US$ 1,600 complete for both sides, which is cheap. Widex 220 R D is available for the same price, Noahlink ready.

M& receivers are not top of the notch, really? What a shame.

Well I have the AX as well and I can say they are pretty good for me, I swap these around depending on what I’m doing, between ReSound one and AX they are very similar, but you must trial each as only you will know the one you like best, I wouldn’t buy the moment just because it’s on “sale” for whatever that means.
yeah that prolink is expensive everywhere, I picked mine up for just over $100 I won it in an auction so it was a very good price, wouldn’t make much sense to buy one now when the Noahlink wireless is the industry standard (well for now anyway)

It’s always the same: if it sounds nice, it’s hard to understand. if you understand everything well, it sounds bad. Difficult Decision.

Does the AX sound better and more beautiful than the Resound? I thought it sounded better with the second microphone? Or do you have more occlusion with the bigger speaker/mic?

I can’t tell you exactly for your situation, you’ll need to make that decision, it’s true some people say Widex is very good especially with music, but for me I didn’t see this “big difference” at all (Evokes not Moment) between the AX and One’s it’s hard to say, they sound pretty good and I’m very happy with my projects on them, but I end up with using the ReSound Ones most of the time now, I’m happy with the App as well, Bluetooth streaming is great on both with Android, I can’t say for Apple products but from what others say the is more mature with additional features from the iphone.
As for occlusion it’s not a problem for most, I use molds so have a more occlusive fitting anyway.

It’s trial and error, I wouldn’t make any quick decisions based solely on what you read here or online elsewhere, only you can be sure what’s right for you.

If you keep a watchful eye on eBay and other auction sites, you’d be surprised what turns up for almost give away prices, including latest models.

Not to make quick decisions is the key.

I’ll take advantage of the free trial offers and try the Signia, Resound and Widex… and then decide.

After that I can still buy cheap online… :wink:

I´m now trying two WIDEX Moment 440 RIC10 and have set up them by myself after my acoustician has already set up them.

The sound qualitiy is absolutely ok, they sound not like hearing aids, really good!

Now i understand about 95%. 100% is possible with a harder sound setting, there´s no need to do so. It is a compromise between good sound and perfect understanding, as is so often the case.

But the Widex RIC10 have no bluetooth, so telephone calls are really worse.

That is the only thing why I would try another hearing aid.

Should i buy the much more expensive Widex Moment 440 sRIC or should i try Resound One 9 for same money as Widex 440 RIC10?
