Oticon Genie 2

Noahlink on the way, still concerned I might erase my Oticon Intent 1s, so by the numbers:
- Install Noahlink, make sure firmware update to latest
- Start Genie, blank slate (no clients), create new client, don’t enter or anything else, click on client
- Reboot , go to Welcome in Genie, click on Connect
I assume data from my HAs will fill up the client information, with no changes to my HAs? Now how do I disconnect my HAs from Noahlink and get out of Genie gracefully, leaving a “golden” client that I can use in the future to restore my settings to original?
Thanks again.

Ok so to answer your questions.

No not really, Noahlink wireless is plug and play, on some rare occasions you may need to update the driver for use with win11

Make your client and then connect and then click save (to both and data base) very easy.

Same as 1, I think it’s time to learn how to use use genie2 first before jumping in, honestly it’s so easy, so get familiar with how Genie2 works and the best way to do this is to use the demo simulation mode, you’ll now see the steps and how’s things work, how to save etc it’s all there easy as, cheers

I’ve been thru the simulation process, that’s not my problem.
I have fitted aids, fully functional, and I want to move the information from the aids into a blank client. Your instructions above state click connect and then click save to both and data base, but I don’t want to go that direction, I want to move the HA data into the client without modifying any of the data.

Yep that’s what I’m saying to you, you don’t change anything otherwise they’ll no longer be “original audiologist settings” so you have to “connect” them to Genie2 to be able to save the settings to that client, which becomes your “golden client” but let’s reach out to some of the other forum members to see if they can help you understand a little more on this, again I’m gonna repeat myself and just say it’s so easy to do, cheers

So if a client is empty, when one clicks connect the data from the goes into the client. If the client already has data, then upon connect the client data is transferred to the HAs? I agree, this should be simple, but there is no clear indication in the software which way data is flowing when Connect is clicked.

Well you could look at it like this, but no, when connecting it will do nothing unless you make changes or click save, so you must “save” for the client to have the relevant settings saved to the database that are stored in the , just connecting doesn’t do this, please have another look in your demo simulation mode, plus did you read the user guides, and watch the video guide, as it’s pretty good at showing how to connect and save.

Yes, I’ve been thru the simulation mode several times. I don’t presently have a copy of the used in my (posted one is out of date). The software flow seems to expect a valid audiogram to be entered before Connect.
If I connect with no audiogram entered, is Genie capable of reconstructing it from within the HAs? If not, then I will have to obtain a current copy from my audiologist.
Thanks for putting up with me, i’ve not been good at expressing my concerns. I have gone thru all (or most) of the user/video guides, and spent several hours in simulation mode. However, there’s not much written about what happens on connect, i.e. if the client is “empty” will the data from the aids fill up the client info.

I understand where the resides, but I don’t have a copy at the moment. So my question remains, if no audiogram is entered into the client before connect, can Genie “reconstruct” the audiogram? Or does it have to be entered into the client before first connect?

Ok, my settings are correct, but with no in the client how can I proceed? I thought the audiogram was a base point for settings?

Proceed with making changes to the settings to see how they sound and do what you like.
Have you made a separate client so you have your original settings safe?

You settings from your are already on your Aids which are based on your audiogram.
Obviously making changes is what people who do.

Yes, I well understand that. However, can you confirm that all changes can be made without reference to the base ? I would assume that if there were a change that required using the audiogram, then Genie would let you know, but just looking for verification. Also, I have requested a copy of the latest audiogram from my audiologist, so hopefully this will be a moot question.

Yes, audogram “mismatch” can pop up, you get option to use settings from or database.

You could make another client and enter manually when you get it, this would be a good way to learn more about how Genie2 works, lots of things for you to try over time as well, did you know Genie2 has a unique program set up, it allows you to try different formulas as “programs” can be handy depending on your loss, others don’t offer this.
